LTA to install overheard traffic lights at Victoria Street junction

Last week, the LTA synchronised the traffic lights at Victoria Street junction with another pair at the pedestrian crossing between Bugis Village and Bugis Junction as an enhanced safety feature.
The Land Transport Authority has further beefed up efforts to improve road safety at the Victoria Street junction.
Noting how many members of the public had sent in their feedback and suggestions on how to further improve this road junction, a LTA spokesman said it will bring forward the installation of the overhead traffic lights at the junction as another precautionary measure, ahead of its original installation date in 2013.
Works to install the overhead traffic signals will begin tomorrow and the overhead traffic light is expected to start operating from early next week.

You sure? I thought it was only the driver's own friends who were quoted claiming he wasn't drunk. Then the papers reported that the results were still pending.

Even if you go back and read this thread, you will see people initially angry that the press "reported" that he wasn't drunk (when it was in fact just quoting his friends' claims), then after that claiming that no blood test was done, then now claiming that the blood test result will never be released.

So can the Internet community please make up its mind which conspiracy is correct?! I'm getting rather confused about which theory I'm supposed to believe. I might just have to rely on the press instead.

Examine insurance and legal systems too

I refer to the clamour for action to be taken following recent accidents caused by speeding and beating the red light and involving drivers of high-performance cars.

There should be some focus on the victims of such accidents and how the insurance and legal systems can ensure that they have proper, expeditious resolution of their claims.

There was a recent news report that one of the victims injured in December 2009 by former Romanian diplomat Silviu Ionescu has only now been paid his full settlement.

Such delays are unfair to accident victims.

The State, through the legal system, needs to review the time taken for such cases.
