Urgent Help Needed - Tyre Pressure for 318I

Hi guys

Collected the car from PML last Wed and was told to refer to the label at the side of the driver door for tyre pressure. It says 200 kpu for front and 230 for rear. Tyres that came with the new car is Continental CS2.

I have 2 questions:

1. Continental CS2 - is this run flat tyre? Where do we see on the tyre that indicates run flat?

2. Tyre Pressure - I went to Shell and tried to check the tyre pressure. Was shocked to see 340 for all 4 tyres. Called up SE and he said it is impossible, and I shd follow the label and go for 200 front and 230 rear. Went to SPC to try as I thought the air pump at shell might be faulty. SPC air pump showed the same readings and I proceeded to deflate and pumped 200 front and 230 rear. Can anyone tell me if the tyre pressure is correct? Tyre specs: Conti CS2 225/45/17.

I'm driving into Malaysia and would like to clear my doubts, esp on the tyre pressure before that, thanks in advance!!

I think you should be safe with 220-230KPA. Did you see wrongly as 34.0PSI? If so then it should be correct.

As for runflat tires, you should see if there is a RFT embossed anywhere on the sidewalls.

Thanks bro. Do you follow the recommended pressure? haha I always pump 240 for all 4 tyres on my old car

This was probably earlier in 2011, when I sent in the family's E92 for service, tyre pressure in either rear right or rear left was 300kpa+.

I wasn't sure why the other 3 tyres were within 230kpa thereabouts. From then I made it an effort to check tyre pressure everytime I was in Singapore.

What the SE tells you and what the mechanic does is often not consistent.

best to follow the advice on the side of driver's door. All the SE at PML are trained to tell u to read that. if u over inflate, u are going to have uneven wear of your tires. of course if u always carry full load of passengers, it might be helpful to increase by 10%. my two cents.
