Used car market !?!?!?

currently looking for a used family car ( 2009) in sgcarmart,
after doing some research , everyone is selling at the SAME price
they bought in 2009 !!! some even a few grand more....
i thought depreciation calculation is based on the year its registered,
and NOT based on the current new car price ??? sibey jialat...

Cars became a "tradable assets", a few dealers told me..... "Can buy one, this one.... "

Agreed. A lot of people now selling for even higher than when they bought their car. Actually kind of ridiculous pricing sometimes.

But what to do? COE is the cause of everything.

Can offload and transit for a year lor...... no need to chase with HIGHER COE and LOWER OMV...... the depreciation numbers are crazy......

60K COE means 6K a year, $500 per month paid to zheng hu for owning a car.....

But if you try to sell your car to a dealer he will say difficult to sell cos market full of your model, then you agree to his price. The next day the dealer posts in sgcarmart "JUST ARRIVED, rare car, selling fast, MY LOSS is YOUR GAIN, call now" and you see the asking price is 50k above what you sold to him for.

went down to look see a c4 grand picasso...selling 98k, den i showed him citroen 2009 pricelist selling 95k..den dealer say " to tell u the truth..i buy from owner at 95k also...i only earn from u 2 or 3k...very tough market nowadays for us dealer ,but u can see the condition very good one ley...blablabla ( switching subject )"........

Used Car Dealers say what also cannot believe one... Say u very yan dao also dun believe... say u very stylo like david beckham... thou abit high still cannot believe...

indeed, used car dealers have ah bengs as described above.

however, perspective of the used car market really depends on which angle you are from, i.e. the seller end or the buyer end.

i just sold 2 cars very recently, mine and my wife's.

mine to an AD - of course, they sold to an AD, take in price was attractive to me and i am happy.

wife's to a resale shop - take in price was attractive too and she is happy. buy in price can be better but then, that is life.

lastly, do shop around those higher end resale, eg. premium select. just sold and bought from them recently, my wife's. no ah bengs to deal with and no kopi admin money.

Ya I always heard expat going back... knn i know many expats who don't drive here... back in UK £60,000 for a M3, here 3series base model SGD160k... who will buy... maybe if given car allowance yes la, but only that handful lot only :nutkick:
