V-Kool Sin Ming

Just got my car tinted at V-Kool Sin Ming today and I'm very happy with the result. I was a tinting virgin (never had tinted any of my cars before) and the staff was friendly and helpful. The work done was excellent and I'm a happy camper.

My only complaint (and it's not against V-Kool) is that trying to stay within LTA regulations is no fun. It's a bit light and would love a much darker tint all around.

Want to thank everyone on this site that had contributed info that helped me make my decision.

I like this place !!! Very professional. Amazingly, still no bubbles after two years......

Kenneth,

It was in big part thanks to your recommendation of that place that I went.

Thanks,

Hi Mel,

Mine was a custom package as I mixed and matched different films to get the result I want. I also had the moonroof done. Best is you contact them and get a quote specifically for what you need.

Good luck!

wow,
your experience with those guys is the total opposite of mine. The mere thought of that branch and the vkool hq management makes my blood boil. They charge at a premium versus other brands, and you'd think you'd have peace of mind with a "big" company. But when it comes to damage compensation, they behave far from that.

I found their facility poor, when i had dust trapped in my film they had the cheek to tell me it's to be expected as their facility is not dust proof. Then they might as well recycle newspaper, not install premium solar film.

Anyway, maybe it's just my luck with experience with them, or they took the tribunal official's advice to put in more care with customer cars. But i think other forum readers should be aware these guys have messed up before, so go and observe their work before committing. And if you have the time, stay on the premises and watch them while they work on your car. Don't let them pressure you into leaving by insisting the job will take very long.

Thanks to that branch and the company that runs the brand, the first thing my dad said to me when we looked at the new z4 was "ask our SE if we can have tint done as factory option. Never mind what it'll cost."

and stefman, glad you had a better experience than me, but pardon the advice, do inspect your car interior and exterior too. Not just their film install.
Check your seats and rubber lining on your windscreen just in case.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had the tinting done on Tuesday and haven't had much time to inspect the work. I will do so this weekend though.

Re: V-Kool Sin Ming

This will never end. Much like the PML vs PI argument. There will always be two sides of the stories. In my case, I was there almost the whole day, and they took great care on my car, even taking painful care on the paintwork and interiors......

not so much an argument than making sure forumers get reviews of both types. In fact, i went to this branch after reading your own glowing review of their services a few years back, back then when i visited, they INDEED appeared dedicated. But when i had my new car done a year back, they were terrible. And I have huge claims evidence file as a souvenier of the experience.

Anyway, all i want to convey is potential customers should go see any vendor in action before commiting. And don't rely on reviews that are dated too far back, cos the original team aren't always still there.

And this is what i learnt from the tribunal judge - if you ever find your property in bad condition, eg applicable here are dirty seats, plastic shavings left everywhere etc, take photographic evidence.

This is important, Esp when the condition prevents you from performing a thorough inspection. Don't take anyone's word that they will rectify problems if you discover it later on. Once you leave the premises, all kinds of excuses can be thrown at you.

Re: V-Kool Sin Ming

When I went there, I told them they had been recommended by a bunch of people on this board and told them that I would post on this board about my experience with them. Dunno if that helped in getting good service.

I did find some scratches on the paint at the side towards the back, but I suspect that was from the petrol station attendant that took it upon himself to clean my window even though I had told him that I didn't need to. Looks like scratches from a belt buckle. Gonna try to buff those off this weekend.

maybe they're more careful with their customer's cars now, or maybe your comment really helped you out there. Frankly, their branch staff were very polite and friendly when i arranged my install. But subsequently when i had problems, it was frustrating dealing with them. Even with their main management, it was kinda like dealing with a small shop in sim lim square if you get my drift. I had much better service at cool n lite, despite them being cheaper.

It's hard to pinpoint who is the real cause of damage, and after instalation jobs that can be a sore argument. In my case, i personally cleaned the entire car inside out and conditioned the interior leather. So if i found any damage, i could be sure it was them. My other mistake was not watching them do the install job.

Better do a good inspection of the rest of your car to be safe anyway, but hope it checks out ok for you.

Re: V-Kool Sin Ming

IMO, i am not a firm believer of branded tints. my next tint will be only $300 for the whole car.

one may have good tinting product, but if the workmanship is not good, results will not be great...

u give me a $500 wax, i got no skill to use it, results will not be as good too.

motorknut, sorry you had a bad experience. I had a chance to inspect the car this weekend and, apart from minor marks on the rubber seals of the windows, my car checks out fine.

So for my experience, I stand by my recommendation of this establishment.
