Valvetronic servomotor and eccentric shaft sensor

Hi guys - sharing.. Just had the above replaced after engine light came on for a few days. Mileage at 90k with issues with light jerkiness during gear change/lack of power before this. So far so good.

Wondering if anyone else had this issue and at which mileage. Would like to learn if I can avoid this issue again in the future - is it really true that it's due to wear and tear only - I'm guessing it's the way we drive too right?

my servomotor and eccentric shaft up lorry at 80k milleage
it seems like 80k-100k sure up lorry ... pretty much standard wear and tear
