Vorsteiner hood... My saga continues....

Re: Vorsteiner hood... My saga continues....

Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question... but...

during rain/downpours, where do the rain water end up? Do some it it end up through the vents into the engine compartment?

(great looking hood, Eddie!)

thanks,

good question... i customed rain ducts to let the water thru the side of the fenders....

this will help protect my wiring from the headlamp + the open pod CAI

will take some pics to share....

heard tony5050 has some "waterfall" issues too.....

Re: Vorsteiner hood... My saga continues....

but doesn't this defeat the purpose of the vents which are there to allow the hot air within the engine bay to vent out?

Re: Vorsteiner hood... My saga continues....

louis,

they added 2 pieces of sheets, still allowing hot air out but water routed to the fender....

Also, can someone teach me how to post a picture up like that of Wilson's photos? I tried posting some on the meetups on my own thread...but it's not too clear. Wilson's one is clear as hell! Any idea? I already did the IMG copy and paste...

No problem so far. A couple of things to note:

(1) The water will fall straight in, if the car is stationary. Remember, one side of the engine bay is your stock or after-market filter. If stock no issue. Box. If CAI, there is a shield, unless you are running on open pod. The other side (driver side) is more of a concern, where the ballast housing is located. However, so far the rain water has not hit that pecular angle.

(2) Bulk of the rainwater will skip off the bonnet when the car is in motion.

(3) However, the rainwater will sneak in between the top and second layer of bonnet. Try lifting the bonnet after the rain and you will see what I mean. Rainwater will gush from "within" the bonnet. No solution yet - an inherent design issue. Unless the fitter putty the gap (beneath the grilles).

(4) Rain trays are available from Vorsteiner. But it is not to be installed underneath. It is a CF tray meant to be lay over the grilles. And you will have to clip it from beneath to secure it.

Those who wish to change complete color or just a fresh re-coat of the same color of their bimmers....pls contact Angie (Yew Lip).

BTW, your new camera is not as good as my FX-9!! Muahahahahaha

I'll post more pics of your car very soon.....all dam bloody solid!!!!!
