Warranty Concerns

Hi, would like to get some feedback from bros and sis here on whether the following will void warranty for a new bmw purchased from pml. Have heard mixed feedbacks from staff of pml and outside workshops as well as other bimmer owners, so don't know which one is true:(
Here it goes :

1. Do up body kit at an outside workshop. This involves removing of fog lights and sensors so the pml guy told me potentially can void warranty cos all these are linked to the car computer.

2. Change out rims and tyres. So far heard from most parties this one no problem with warranty.

3. Do engine tuning to up hp. Outside workshop said no problem as the device can be removed just before you send your car to pml for the next warranty servicing.

4. Do up more features like ICE, navigation and video if the car did not come with it. This one also got mixed feedbacks.

Thank you for your inputs. Cheers

Re: Warranty Concerns

Ai mod mai Kia.

Kia, don't mod.....

That's the golden mantra.

Re: Warranty Concerns

stock is best.....think Bro Ah Wing say one....hahaha

Re: Warranty Concerns

Wan to mod but sked? Then mod in pml. Haha. MW say PML best.

Re: Warranty Concerns

Legally, they can even blame anything on new wheels and tyres since the handling aspects of the car, the stress on the axles, the parameters like lighter unsprung weight, and blah blah blah have changed........

Some logic must prevail instead of Chicken Little fear.

Re: Warranty Concerns

performance mod : better to avoid
cosmetic mode : should be no problem if your installer dont introduce error msg into the system ( which normally wont unless u change some lights )

Re: Warranty Concerns

how long you will be keeping the car?

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers

Re: Warranty Concerns

Install the real doll that kenntona is selling , best cosmetic and performance mod without voiding warranty!

Re: Warranty Concerns

1) No.. if the installer can screw up with body kit.. he should close shop
2) No.. unless u go with some crazy offsets
3) me think yes... u do not know what the ecu logs
4) conti.. electrical system best not to touch... unless u really know what u are doing

Re: Warranty Concerns

Rule of the thumb is :

Scared don't mod.

Mod don't be scared.

Re: Warranty Concerns

Is pml level of competence and quality of technicians able to tell?

Re: Warranty Concerns

Halo, dun anyhow say hor. I change petrol grade also will write in to BMW Asia, cc to BMW Germany to get confirmation that using Ron 98 for a year and now change to Ron 95 will void warranty or not. Sometimes I will also ask LTA but their answer is always "We are monitoring the situation"

Re: Warranty Concerns

In the old days where the Internet wasn't that popular (read: Google), we used to depend on SMS to each other on who was selling wat mods or where to get new good stuff...now with google, people still can start threads asking "hi bros where to find Eng Soon?"
