water inside the cabin..please help

Hi fellaz,

just found out this morning when I did a quick interior clean up that my rear carpet is soaking wet (both sides). I think the water came in from the door seals. What I don't understand is, there seems to be no breakage in the seals. Here is a picture of the water mark

As far as I can remember, I closed all the windows and doors properly yesterday. However, I did park my car on a sloping car port (around 15 deg slope) with the front facing down. And yes, it rained pretty heavily yesterday.
Does anyone have any idea of what's gone wrong?

check the drainage channels on the top of the door (where the doors meet the body of the car). there's a strip of plastic that might be broken. this is the thing that usually is chrome and most people stick black tape over to make it, well... black.

hope it isn't cos it bloody expensive.

looks like you are driving e46?

yes, I'm driving e46 indeed.. It's a 318i prefacelift model.

I checked the plug under the door just to find out that it's in perfect shape. All the door rubber seals are in perfect condition and all plastic things also. So I'm guessing the only problem comes from the vapour barrier inside the door trim might be going
