welcome light for new F10, 520i

Hi All,

Sorry but needs all brothers opinions here..

My welcome light if left my car at carpark overnite, and then tried pressing it, it
will not light up.. I think sometimes i need to press the button 2 to 3 times
before it will light up.. Light is set to 30 seconds.

But if i just parked, locked all doors and then after maybe 20 secs, and
i pressed the welcome light button, it will light up straightaway.. So it
means if i just offed engine not too long, the welcome light works..

However it will not work for maybe hours if car is parked there.. can advise
are all your cars the same ? Thanks again..

Or how should i be pressing the welcome light to work ?

OT a little.

do you feel jerky on ur F10 520 when u depress the accelerator? esp when from stand still. sometimes even when i start to depress harder on the accelerator, the car engine like wan to die off, the rpm hover abt 1000 rpm...

so far dont feel jerky.. i depress accelerator softly as running in now..

no, remote is brand new.. cannot be low.. i am checking car tomorrow,
maybe sensor or something like tat..

no bro, the button is at your remote, the icon is like a diamond,
on the lowest of your remote control..

It is suppose to be for searching of car if you dunno where it is
parked. Once depressed button, the front beam will shine for
20 or 30 seconds..

i depress slowly as i driving a new F10 for running in..but after a week or so...the car starts to feel jerky and sometime no response for split seconds when step on aceelerator...u monitor and see if u expreience..i send my car in to PML already...the SA havent encounter as 520 is very new...but he did agree with me abt my issue as we went for test drive on my car..

ya, just checked, and it seems the software coding is set wrongly from
germany, or it was disabled.. Now gotta wait for the new software for
this new 520i to hit shore here, before i can enable it..

when set to manual on from programming, it was enabled.. thus it
means the light is working, just need the newer software to enable
it.. gotta wait 1 - 2 weeks... should be okay.. thanks..

Actually - abt the lights - not sure if anyone has confirmed before - if u try standing right beside ur car..it will not work - as its supposed to help u find ur car...not for 'happy trigger finger' on and off. but if u are rather far from the car....if u press, it will light up...so u can find ur car....I would think it could be made that way..?

huh? got such thing meh? Mine works when I tested it standing in front of my car.

Welcome lights are "useless" in Sg cos we all knw where we park our precious cars

Not a confirmed diagnosis - was just something I thought could be happening due to some settings maybe...as I once did try to press the light to 'admire the Xmas lights' while having a puff beside it...and did not seem to work...but I press unlock and it worked. so later....before reaching my car, I decided to test it again...and presto...it lighted up..."scratchhead'....

but some way - BMW is like a woman...just love it and dun try to understand whats going on too much....

mine is exactlly like yours, sometimes work very well, sometimes
throw tantrum and dont light up.. dunno why also...

BMW is to drive hard. even during run in, step harder to 4000rpm ia ok. NOT like Nippon car.

Bro Steve,

Sgvehicle is in the news today - I can't link the article at ST, but it's something about not honoring the warranty on a new 528i with a broken aircon!

Hope they'll fix your DRL FOC!
