What engine oil are u using for yr F30?

Recommended to use castrol edge at 10w 60. $38 a bottle and need 4.
Oil filter another $35.

Is the oil too thick?

if you read the manual, 10W-60 is definitely not in the recommended oil listing :errrrrrr:

When selecting an engine oil, ensure that the engine oil belongs to one of the viscosity grades SAE 0W-40, SAE 0W-30, SAE 5W-40, and SAE 5W-30 or malfunctions or engine damage may occur

Approved oil types
Specification
BMW High Performance SAE 5W-30
BMW Longlife-01
BMW Longlife-01 FE

Mine is a PI car.
Hear they used mineral oil for first round ( not sure any truth).
Anyway for the peace of mine when to change today at autospritze ( was with them since my last car) when it reach 1k.
The technician Barry has clocked 10 years with pml and said he seen many oil slug when pml changed from castrol to mobil.
It's especially true on twin turbo engine as I was told.
Went with his recommendation for castrol. Seems ok so far, did not notice any difference from my last motor oil.
I wot today for the first time at 5k rev, wow pull is shoik!
The downloaded M powered meter app on iPhone shows max g force is 0.9 G

Will monitored for a few weeks. May changed back to mobil 5w 40 as suggested by kon for the next service.
Don't see the need to spend $250 just for oil change.

5w40 would be the ideal one to change to, my previous Audi S4 is on that as well, same for the F30 335.

10w60 seems to be recommended by workshops that do lotsa Jap turbo rides. This is kinda standard when I changed the oils on my previous Rex and alike

Go for castrol edge 0-30w...good for cold engine. Once you start engine you can go to work...no time for heat up..

Mobil 1 not bad.
0w 40 for na, 5w50 for tc.
U can call jeff or kevin 91816484.

Update! Brought in 5L 5W40 for oil change without any issue.

BMW had recently changed over to Shell, replacing Castrol.
2L engine uses less than 5 litre. 3L engine needs 6.3 litre.
I find Castrol Edge 5W-40 good enough for my N55 engines. For convenience will change to Shell next oil change. It's about frequency of change. Oil all quite good as long as it meets BMW LL-01 standard for turbo-engine. Giant sales (not sure it's still on) for Shell 5W-40 at $39.90 4L pack! Super good price.

Not sure if the shell from giant is the same as what PML is using as ever read online giant one seems to sell a diff type of packaging or something

10w-60 is for NA ///M car. TC ///M car uses 5-30.

Since N52, it should be LL-01 FE. LL-01 is too thick for TC engine.

Packing of Shell Helix synthetic with spec meeting BMW LL-01. should be same as PML.
