1) I believe BMW's are for car enthusiasts who enjoy spirited driving.
2) I own older BMW's (E30 and E34) so I actually find independent/specialist shops more knowledgeable with my car.

I've been really impressed by the latest generation of designs by BMW, esp the 3 and 5 series. I think they can give Audi a run for their money design-wise and it's definitely for the young affluent to be seen in one these days!

Even though BMW make damn good cars, I feel that their branding/reputation is a little over-hyped.
There are other makes that make cars just as good or even better...just that they lack the strong branding that BMW has.

Marketing - at it's peak. Challenge to keep up there but doing well so far.
Technical - Most, if not, one of most technically advance. Applies to flagship only of course.
Price - Overpriced but hey nothing comes free.

Used to be a fan of BMW's. New models are nice but agent ....... (reserve comments). Also as car prices go higher, the OMV is getting lower....hmmmmm

I am a BMW driver who still feels that it is STILL the ultimate driving machine. However,since Bangle left, the marque has gone into "safety" design mode and the cars are beginning to look bland like Merc's. Audi is taking over as they have placed their bets on edgy design and amazing interiors. But still, nothing beats the drive of a BMW.

It's a damn good car with superb handling and great piece of engineering. IMO, However due to the perceived demographics that is targeted ie doctors, executives, bosses, rich people, status...notably caused by the hype and marketing strategy by BMW asia (singapore)
Thus so, bmw car owners are being conformed to the exorbitant prices for the cars, parts and so called "good service" by the local ADs.
Other part of the world (germany, us, europe) , the car is common and driven around by commoners as well as bmw car lover (who love them for their technology) without the hype and perceived marketing campaign....
