hi all,

am new to forum and looking at buying my first BMW this year but was spooked by this worshop guy...he told me that BMW does not last beyond the first 3 years and usually people export it after 3 years as compared to other german marque its quality is inferior..

can any forumers here refute such irresponsible statement?

frankly he spooked me but that is not gonna deter my purchase this year...

regards
Newcastle

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

which workshop?....if it is that bad, think bmw closed shop...hahaha

which series r u getting? not that bad lah, with TLC it will last for a long time....

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

have u checked how many bmws that fella done or he mostly do jap cars??
the export after 3 yrs part is mostly due to PARF, especially for those under the old scheme. but to be honest, there will be problems with the cars, just a matter of heng sway and how u take care of it

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

3 years too long liao,must sell by 2nd year.kekeke

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

Geez, then I should have exported mine ;)

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

Opps, I am trying to say no problem at all. Ha, edited that post already

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

Wah, sounds like mine is the oldest (coming to 5 yrs), 2nd inspection soon. Ai yah, wear and tear parts are unavoidable one lah. So far by totalling up the bills, the mods I paid are much more than the wear and tear, jiak lat :lol2: :lol2: .

Take a good care of your ride and the handling+performance it gives you is

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

aiyo u all ah, then all my Club Sandy E36 guys how, go bang wall ah? haha
its ok lah, no ride can perform that 100% all the time so we must learn to live with the fact of wear n tear and pay for the necessary repairs to keep the ride going

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

thanks guys...lets just say its a workshop in alexandra.... and me am planning on either a E46 or E90....really depends on the selling price.... :D

been eyeing the E46 and E90 for close to 3 mths liao...hehehe basically just procrastinating ont the purchase and price...hope to finalise the purchase soon...

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

alexandra? i think u mean Bukit Merah Lane and surely cannot be BM workshop cos BMWs' their livelihood so its probably the other workshops (which do motly jap cars).
so would u rather believe a workshop that does mostly jap cars abt their knowledge on BMWs? its like going to McDonalds asking for KFC chicken....haha

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

haha dude i love newcastle too!

haha and that workshop is full of shit. my ride is a 93 make E36 and it's still in very good condition. up and down NS highway without a problem. just do your servicing regularly. slowly learn more about your ride and sooon you will know how to take good care of it. haha

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

My last ride (a BMW) was 8 years old when I sold it and throughout the 8 years of ownership only gave me the usual wear and tear that *any* car will get.

I think it also has to do with maintenance, take care of your car and you should be O.K.

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

my e39 last me 7 years.....

The last batch of E46 would give you good value for money. This is the batch with lots of M accessories added in, including sports rims, M-tech II body kit, M-seats and steering. 17" wheels 225/245. Swee swee. I saw one with only 30km in PML Premium listed at about $75. OMV about $46.

This would also be the batch where all bugs have been resolved. IMHO, the design is also more 'original BM'. I find the E90 for Jap-design. Just a personal opinion. No right or wrong.

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

Still prefer the E46 over the E90...

unless its an E92,93...

Re: what the workshop guy told me...

If getting E90, maybe wait a little longer as the face lift coming soon. Prices should drop more once the face lift comes out.....
