I highly don't recommend it... I think it may kill the fuel pump (overheat). Reason I did it was that I was on NS highway and rushing back to Singapore...
Emiffy, the fuel pump does not overheat cos the fuel inside the pump cools the thing down sufficiently. What is even worse is a momentary loss of fuel pressure which will result in a "lean out" which increases combustion temperatures and in the long term causes burnt exhaust valves.
The short term problem is the fuel pump picking up all sorts of condensate and particles usually found at the very bottom.
