Wheel setup - rubber profile

so can i just confirm that for 19 inch on e60, i can use 40 and 35 profile tyre instead of 35 and 30? I too find the profile is too thin and looks very thin esp on coilover. I will love the 40 front and 35 rear profile tyre. From my undestanding like other bro that E60 M5 can use higher profile tyee is due to their wider fender. If this is BS, then i am gonna look for tyre shop to order 40 and 35 tyre for my next change. ....

Thread was a bit old but as I am now looking at changing from my 17" to 19", wonder if any good brothers out there can confirm no rubbing issue if the front was 40 and rear 35?

Thanks

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

rubbing is mainly due to "offset" aggresiveness rather than thickness (profile)

Thanks.

I am looking at the following offset for my E60:

Front: 19 x 8.5 +20
Rear: 19 x 9.5 +22

Recommended by dealer that these will be flush and aggressive. I am also not changing my suspension.

I am on:

Front: 19 x 8.5 +20 - 245/35
Rear: 19 x 9.5 +21 - 274/30

no rubbing.....everything else stock.

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

I'm on the original M5 style 166 rims from PML without spacers. I believe the front is 245/35/19 ET 12 and thE rear is 275/30/19 ET 17. Based on what my bro in law has been telling me, no rubbing thur far and look is pretty flushed.

In another thread bro Terras mentioned that the most aggro offset the E60 can take is front 12 and rear 16 I think.

Hope it helps.

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

Hi, need some help here...I was previously on front 255/30/20 rear 275/30/20...needed a change of the front tyres...and changed to 245/35/20..since then, I'm experiencing some form of sound coming from the front tyres at low speed. It's like the tyres are hitting something.

Driving a e60.. any advise will be greatly appreciated if it's due to the change of tyre size...

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

245/30 front and 275/25 or 285/25 rear for 20in rims on non-M5 E60.

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

Hi 156F1...thanks for your advice..felt so wasted...that the shop didn't let me know abt that...ok so I guess /30 is the max I can go.. now I'm stuck with these tyres.. : /

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

Hi all,

Finally took the plunge to get a 06 523i E60. Hope to learn more abt this ride here...1st time bimmer owner so may have alot of questions...

I'm looking to change the stock rims to Breyton Race GTS or look alike... What would be the correct offset, rim size and tyre size as I understand the E60 have a staggered configuration. Looking to get the correct offset so that the rims will be flushed with the body...thanks.

Re: Wheel setup - rubber profile

Hi gurus,
Jus to confirm.. E60 front can't use 245/35 r20 setup?
245/30 r20 is the max?
Thanx fr the advice

I am a newbie here w 2009-525. I assume my ride is then E60?
i am currently on Michelin 245/45r17.

I think the starting point for both cars are different.

E60 starts from 16" -> 225/55 16

F10 starts from 17" -> 225/55 17

Thicker sidewall mean more cushy ride.
