When should we replace our E90 320 Oil Separator?

Having rpm hunting issues , check by several WS but no results,1 ask me change Valvetronic motor, 1 told me must do engine overhaul and 1 ask me change oil separator..can some1 advice?

To save on labour, change valvetronic motor and oil separator.

I changed mine before, separately .

Cost as follow:
Oil separator is ard 50+ for e90.
Revelant hoses another 100+ abit.
labour forgot ler. Done in bolehland.

Valvetronic motor supply and install ard 600++ done in SG

Isn't oil separator change when it's clogged up or you are burning engine oil through the exhaust?

Engine overhaul seems overkill for rpm hunting.

It could be your valvetronic motor if your valve lift is not working. Best look for r2d in woodlands, or Francis in JB.

I ask for 2nd and 3rd opinion from some of the bmw specialist workshop .they checked but no error code on valvetronic issues and no error code found.

What about checking the spark plugs first? Or ignition coils?

These type of troubleshooting better see Dr Rod at R2D!

Yeah, but MY labour cost is still a fraction of what you would be incurring in Singapore. Might as well do it all together so that's a good advice

Since changing valve seals might as well ask them to bersih the intake stuff etc ......

Bro,decide to see francis this weekend,want to change the oil separator,do we need to change the 3 hoses attached to the oil separator,cost ard 150 as well.can advise?

YES! why shouldnt you? The hoses are also critical. Dont save on that 100+ dollars. Its not worth it.

Tomolo going to replace my oil separator with the 3 hoses.Ws recommend to update software as well,going to cost me 350,is there really a need to update software and pay 350?can any bros advise pls?

What is the new software gonna get you?
Personally, i wouldnt do it. The old cpu may not be able to cope with the new software's various task.

You wouldnt want windows 7 on your Pentium 3 cpu ya?

Get a print out of the UIF if you are going to upgrade the software. And if you are going to include the DME and iDrive Nav for the upgrade - It's going to take about a day.

Today,went to 1 of the stockist to buy my oil separator plus the 3 hoses,replaced at a workshop at kaki bukit,charges me 100 plus for labour,collected my ride,the car engine seems quieter and the engine is much rev more reponsive and my rpm hunting is solve for time being,i will update again.realise that the oil seperator is really important to replace.mileage is abt 137000km
