Personally I don't see how this problem will exist.

With an F or P car, you will still need a sedan or 4-door car. That car could be a BMW or AMG. Assuming that even if you have no kids or parents to ferry around, you still can't really use an F or L car as a daily drive for 99% of the time (assuming you only have 1 car). Even if you are not discouraged by the frequent visits to the kiosk or the FC eating away your wallet, you will soon find that driving a real performance car with suspension stiff enough to feel every coin on the road quite a pain. Not to mention the inconvenience of getting in and out of the car (low ride) and the numerous carparks which you can't enter.

So as exotic as a car might be, and as sheer driving pleasure it gives you, you will probably look for a second daily drive car. That car might just be a M5, XM6 or an AMG wagon. So you can always go back to Ms and AMG!

Whatever i buy to replace my M3, the F10 M5 stays as i need the space for family. I am mostly talking about that Sportscar u drive for fun days. Hey, i hear 458 is pretty usable day to day. It does have a front axle lift doesn't it?

Ital Auto's F cars sold after sep 2010 get 7 years free servicing / maintenance except wear and tear items like tyres.

Stuttgart's Porsche cars get 5 years.

M cars from Munich Auto get 5 years....

maintenance costs should not be an issue in this case.

F car FTW!!!!

Jason, u driven both 458 and McLaren MP4-12C rite? How would u rate them both? I once met the latter on the streets before and it went like stink. I couldn't see which way it went :yikess:

MP4-12C has turbo V6.... exhaust note not as sexy as V8. exterior look for a 800- 900k car DOES NOT really look as expensive.
the USP (unique selling point) of the MP4-12C is its suspension....WRC inspired... read 60km/h jump over speed hump would not bottom out. but almost lag free motoring

F458 is similar to m3... lacks low end torque compared to lambo's V10 in the gallardo. the F car's v8 is a screamer, exterior design is tongue wagging swee.....options list is EXPENSIVE....$14,000 for reverse camera? parking sensor??

Buying second hand exotic is 1 thing, I found out that besides the price, one has to study the option list on these exotics.... has XXX, but missing YYY, can I live WITHOUT YYY or die die must have YYY etc?

if time permits, you should test drive the car yourself.... no... I dun do high speed test drives but rather... imagine I am stuck in traffic, going 20 - 40km/h... how easy is this car to drive, live with in traffic etc etc.

I think it's turbo V8, bro. Good points on the options list! I really would like to stay NA for my Sportscar. If M were to produce the current Z4 in M Coupe form with a tuned up S65, i will be banging on MA's door with a cheque in hand. Though a F-car is the final car left in my bucket list, i will be pretty happy with that Z4 M Coupe. Unfortunately, even if they decide to make an M out of the next Z4, it will likely be FI :(

Not saying that I am faced with this "tough" decision. M3/M4 is in this mix becos it's new whereas the exotics are used. To some, they can never bear shelling out so much $ for a used car. Some would rather buy a spanking new car for around $400k instead of a used exotic at $600+k even though both are within budget. I used to belong to this camp, but lately, am having second thoughts. I do however, fear that once u start on exotics, u are screwed for life. It might be tough to go back to driving Ms and AMGs i think. Has anybody done that?

That is right...Let me intro new slogan to you " Lambo Forever "

I hv driven GT3 for 4 years and now back to M3 for reasons that I believe in.
I do miss the car dearly and it is up for sale again but there's no ego nor pride issue whatsoever, well at least for me.

And if your friendships turn sour because your elite friends stop asking you out, then they are not friends.
Fk em..

Is there a big difference between a GT3 and E9x M3? I have never driven a GT3.

Hahaha. I don't have any frens driving exotics, so that wont be an issue for me. They say GT3 is pretty nasty for day to day driving due to harsh suspension and low ride height. Has that been a bother for u the past few years in your GT3?

Re: Which would you rather buy?

i hv driven all 3.

- the 458 for sheer retention value and daily drive; no lifter; slowest on track......
- the mp4 for an even easier daily drive +lifter...dead feel like GTRs...king on tracks....not much exotic looking...
- lambo for looks....dated everything else..but will still smoke the 458 on track...best after mkt sales on planet earth...some say lambo 4ever bcos its the only one where the dealer offers u trade in...but worse retention value.

Cheem. What is meaning of retention value?

Re: Which would you rather buy?

it means what i buy must be the best...i only want to sell high.

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Clar - are you gonna drive it on a racetrack?

If i do buy a used exotic, I don't think I can bear taking it to the track unless i buy a V10 lambo cos i hear it's build to survive track use unlike Italian horses. Even those fellas in Top Gear has mentioned it before.

that is a FACT.

Re: Which would you rather buy?

What about the earlier versions of Gallardo? I read that that the gearbox is clunky and rubbish, slower than many exotic cars on track despite a V10. Sorry never driven one to know. Awesome sound and one of the best looking mean machine out there I have to agree, even compared to newer versions of F and P cars.

clunky like mad. n true that its slower shifting than the F of those time. BUT they werent slower than F or Ps. in fact they can do more laps at SIC due to better cooling and more robust engineering. but bear in mind we r talking SIC which is a very hot and long track. in a smaller circuit i dun think there is much difference. prob in the older generation. the P gt3 wud be best in small tracks.

current cars.....

i only know the mp4 has gone faster on SIC driven by dennis lian at 2:24+ (other mac driver has done 2:29 thats slower than the old G SL at 2:28);

the Gallardo 550-2 2:26+, the 570-4 at 2:27; aventadors at 2:23 (factory driver)

the 458 best time i have seen on slicks at 2:29+...

Re: Which would you rather buy?

What about Audi V10 R8 and Merc SLS? R8 has that lambo engine, superb handling and sexy exterior. The other one is the top of the class AMG. I think both deserve a shot in the polls. Or is badge a major consideration factor here?

Re: Which would you rather buy?

merc SLS no idea but i cant imagine they r faster than 2:35. r8 v10 i hv heard 2:31 but i hv seen 2:34.

AMG c63 i hv driven mid 2:45s. slower than M3s.

bro i tested the Gallardo 570 V10 a few months ago, some say it has the same R8 V10 engine which i tested too. But lambo feels much more powerful and the sound of it's V10 is freaking addictive unlike R8. Honestly for daily drive it not a easy car to drive. Brakes need to warm abit or else it wont bit. Somemore i was caught in a AYE jurong jam lol

Maybe it me not the car, hahah i'm not use to the accelerate pedal in the centre and brake pedal to the left, it the same as the 991. Good luck hunting bro

Re: Which would you rather buy?

Lambo likely out for me cos i can't stand single clutch automatics. I kuniang, i go for dual clutch. According to toto, the next Gallardo should come with a dual clutch, but that won't be available used anytime soon. While not as desirable as F cars, lambo gets my respect for engineering their Supercars to stand up to abuse and driven like it's supposed to be. The 991 GT3 is the first Porsche that makes me wanna use it as my desktop wall paper. I am concerned about it's daily usability however, due to its low ride height. R8 reminds me of this animal. I once punched one at the zoo when i was little :p

Will definitely sample them out later this year when GT3 arrives along with a used 458 :)
