Why do people buy M5 in Singapore?

Hi N54toN47, don't get it all mixed up as both are Official Numbers.

0-60mph is not equal to 0-100kmph while 0-100kmph is equal to 0-62mph

Therefore 0-60mph is 3.7s (to be exact is 96.56kmph) while 0-100kmph is 4.4s. It takes another 0.7s to reach 62mph (100kmph).

Therefore in terms of 0-100kmph (0-62mph), 'BMW FOREVER' is correct, it is at 4.4s. The 3.7s is for 0-60mph (0-96.56kmph).

hey but did you read the article? they're saying its better than 4.4s so don't think it takes 0.7s to get to 100kph, probably less?

yes yes they're different, i always use them interchangeably but you're right there is a difference after the conversion. thanks
NP. It is all because of Metric and Imperial speed measurement that is why when we see metrics i.e. 0-100kmph, there is usually an imperial indication in bracket e.g. 0-100kmph (0-62mph). While when we see imperial i.e. 0-60mph, there is nothing showing the metrics distance.

Better than 4.4s likely comes from the usage fuel RON which will affect that zero-point-something-second(s). As stated by many reputable articles, the improvement in seconds for century or quarter mile dash will come from using RON95 and RON98.

Maybe BMW's 'under rated' figure comes from RON95... this I don't know but just guessing.

Try racing fuel (upto RON140) and there will be improvement in seconds.

Try Racing fuel (upto RON140) and there's more improvement in seconds :p

Heard so many good reviews about the 520d, hope its all true. What I am really looking forward to is the off the line torque which i hear is pretty good. It's torque figure is almost that of a 535...we'll see.

Why draw such an analogy?? A Cherry QQ or 20 year old COE car or brand new Ferrari will probably be traveling about the same speed as a 520i too right??

but confirm on NSH and on Track is alot of dif........

Re: Why do people buy M5 in Singapore?

To most layman - they can't tell a m5 from a 520i. So why even bother to bluff with 20-25k ..... Same thing as 335i versus M3.

But most layman can associate a Z4 with being posh...... It will turn more heads than a M3 at a traffic junction in Hougang ave 3.

M3 drive by - "oh that one 3 series"

Roofless s23 Z4 drive by - "wah that one like fellaly"

Re: Why do people buy M5 in Singapore?

I think its sibeh insulting to fellow M5 buyers
Its like saying "bro, your brain spoil ah spend so much buy a M5"
But matter of fact is you are ignorant.

How can a pure breed M car be compared with a run of the mill 5er ?
Twice the power at double the price tag with much extra items which we regular bmw owners never get to try.

Come to think of it, I should have gotten the Chery QQ instead.

Re: Why do people buy M5 in Singapore?

TS, have you even stepped into an M5 before making such a comment? Or are you just a sour grape?

Singapore car cannot drive up north?

Why don't you go MA and go molest the showroom car then take a test drive.

You don't know what you are missing. Tsk tsk.

Then what for buy BMW, go and buy a Toyota.
