DH,

Based on your spec list, the base ed. looks better value since it's only the seats and roof lining which differs. (know its the same engine etc. but initially thought the trim differences were greater than that)

I am guessing you can colour the rims or swap them out to aftermkt immediately.

Spyder,

Over 600 horses!? Wow, impressive. I am wondering if that is sustainable given the issues on the tranny reported by US forums.

Cheers
ps: sorry if OT

Tranny issues is those who repeatedly launch their control like masturbation every day. If you drive the car normally including hard and spirited driving plus track, the gearbox is NOT an issue. Its only the launch control with the VDC off that kills it after repeated times.

Re: why there is a lot of boxter/caymen on the 2nd hand market

according to my friend, just have to watch the temperature of the tranny, it seem that the GTR have gauges for everything!!!

to be honest, if on track, the boost should be set lower, 450-500hp is more than enough, then tranny should be ok but still have to watch the tranny temp, my own 2 cents

i sat in his GTR, it is really fast and i have sat in lots of fast car, this friend of mine also have a 700hp evo 9 with the hks engine, fully done up and even he says that the GTR feels faster than his evo monster

Re: why there is a lot of boxter/caymen on the 2nd hand market

Guys,

Good points on the tranny issue. Yes, I read about the LC being abused as the main contributing factor to tranny problems and the fact the manual clearly points out that VDC should not be turned off (implicating warranties)

I think besides attractive pricing, picking one up with a good service history is key as I read that this is one 'sensitive' car. It seems that only GR and MB are the only workshops in town equipped to service the monster properly. Ideally pick one of their cars, although then pricing may not be as attractive given their higher OMVs.

Cheers.

OMV high is one factor. Another factor is the GR and MB brand name premium... I doubt any owner that bought from the 2 places would sell it at 225K etc...

ya phil

someone actually offer me 205k for 6 months old GTR, mileage 5k but omv only 70k and is basic model

times are bad.............

was it a silver car? with premium grey rims...but base model? loaded with LEDS and Reverse Cam. Registered in june 2008?
It was sold for 208k. Owner was more of a comfy GT type of guy. Not hardcore enthusiast. And wasnt worried about steep loss.
IMO a great price.
