Hi, am looking for a E36 318iS manual only. Don't think I'm the only one looking for one on this forum though! Anyway, do PM me if you have one to let go. Thanks.

Yup, I'm lookin for an E36 Coupe too, although I already have one. My gf loves the look of the car, and she wants one too. Heard from some in the local bimmer scene that there're less than 15 on the roads in circulation?

I'm not really sure where that figure of 15 came up from.

At the end of the day it's still how much the owners want to sell their E36 318iS for and if at that point in time, if there's a buyer for it at that price.

Anyway, I do still hope someone's willing to let one go to me :)

The number 15 was what I had informally gathered from my discussions with some of the most popular BMW mechanics in SG (including some in Eunos, Sin Min and AMK Ind Pk 2). I would not treat 15 as the absolute accurate figure, but based on these coupla mechanics (who I think probably should have quite a good idea between them), the number of E36 coupes left in SG is anywhere between less than 10 to around 15. Thus by quoting 15, I'm already giving it the upper end of the "scale".

Think if you do a search on SGCarMart you would not find more than 3-4 advertised since beginning of this year (I know as I have been checkin it out pretty frequently). Also, if you could recall when the last time an E36 coupe was advertised in ST classifieds( I personally have not seen more than 1 since Jan this year), I think 15 probably is quite a conservative estimate. According to my car dealer friends (I'm NOT a car dealer btw!) they say that majority of the E36 coupes were bought when the COE were at astronomical levels, and thus most owners also chose to export the bodies out of SG when the COE prices corrected downwards. In fact, when I got my E36 coupe (I was specifically lookin for a 6 cylinder), after quite a bit of haggling from the previous owner (who due to his financial situation had to sell it off), I had to bite the bullet and put down quite a substantial downpayment as the paper value of the car was nowhere near as high as enthusiasts were willing to pay... Now the search is still on for me to see if I can find a good one for my better half. Here's to luck in both our search for an E36 Coupe! :juggle:

Hi Jason,
How was your M coupe project going? All done? Remember to look for a 6 potters
Cheersss

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

yup u may be close on the figures, i also heard less than 20 from my workshop mechanic, but i tends to see a few running in town, mostly are 320 Auto coupe, maybe manual 318is Coupe shld be lesser.
I pay $35,000 COE for my 318iS coupe , but i love the car so much tat i decide to keep it & not think of the depreciation :)
happy searching bro !

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

Wow. Looks like scoring an E36 318iS manual sounds pretty bleak.

On another note - is an Auto to Manual conversion very complicated on the E36 coupe?

I read on LTA's web site that it's actually legal, with their approval. Anyone's actually seen/done such a conversion?

Hi Dave, how're things? Your E36 sold yet or have you decided to make it your project car? :)

The M Coupe is coming along ok. Managed to secure a carbon fibre AC Schnitzer front strut bar and also a full cream camel back leather door panel set for the car. The Borla exhaust system has also arrived, and I'm just raring for the mechanic to invite me down to test drive and collect the car.

Also managed to special indent in the full PPG paint system with the Alpine White III and the new Ceramiclear Coating to do a full paint job for the car. Heard of lots of good things about this new nanotechnology paint, and it is OEM on all new Mercs and Ferraris.

Hopefully can get the car up and running by end of next month after the engine, paint job and ICE system is done on the car. Catchup with you and Wilson soon ya?

Hi Jackie, great to see your coupe coming along really well. Looks fierce yet classy. Yup the E36 Coupes are getting rarer and rarer, hopefully no more would be exported out of SG. See ya ard mate.

Hi mate, finding an E36 318iS manual is not impossible, but you'll have to be prepared to stakeout the usual classifieds and wait for one to come around. If you need a car urgently, you might not wanna place too much hope of finding one at the same point in time you're lookin for one.

Auto to Manual conversion is on paper not a super complicated affair as far as LTA is concerned. Its only the cost. This is mainly because LTA would require the car distributor to write a letter to certify that the gearbox retrofitted to your car is suitable and is properly fitted by qualified mechanics. Of course you should know how much a new E36 manual gearbox would cost if you got PML to procure and fit it in for you? The damage is not gonna be very pretty...

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

bro must let us try ur project M Coupe, must be damn fast ! hahaha... the engine is a monster!

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

Well, i used to own one 318iS manual. A superb car but due to some financial constraint got to let it go. Its hard to get hold a good one without accidents coz most advertised ones have super high mileage or accident before but had been repair like new and those by dealers are cut throat prices...they bought from owner for 22k n sell it for 32k to 34k. I have been thru that and thats y i want to share to u guys my experience. When i bought mine was thru a friend who sold it to buy a 4 dorr car. But its the e36 320 iM coupe is the one thats very hard to find. 6 inline rather than 4 on 318iS. Had a fren who owns it but the price he is asking wud kill at abt 50k..fully restored woth lotsa accessories but COE 2012.Maybe i'll ask him again whether he wants to sell it but i doubt so. 320iM coupe is a semi sport classic BMW which is an eye turner in this part of the world nowadays with all the new n advanced technology BMW had progress.

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

you are right abt the price, as wat you have say is rare item, "happy buyer, happy seller" kind of thing lor.. bo pian.. "got $ must got pple sell, got pple sell must willingly to take his "high" price"..

Re: WTB: E36 318iS

yep... honestly speaking a good condition 318iS coupe manual is very rare car now. The car i'm driving took me months to find, and i love the this car so much!!! Its a pity that most BMW in SG are auto, becoz the manual is such a gem! really ultimate driving machine especially in manual form. u could even set it up for drift!

I was in the market looking for a 320 coupe manual as well but mostly are 4 doors, even 2 doors are avail they would command prices enoff to buy a E46.

Good luck in your extensive search!~ maybe if u offer me a v good price i mite consider selling...specs of my car:

1) 2.1L stroker, Hi-Op race cams, Hi-Op strut brace and undercarriage. Hi-Op Xhaust, K&N filter, pulleys etc. est 180BHP.
2) 18" BBS Rk, M3 orig bodykit, HID, Sachs Sporting Kit(shocks and springs). cross drilled brake discs. Euro tail lamps, front eyelids.
3) 2x Recaro seats, M3 steering wheel and gear knob, AC pedals and hand brake lever.
4) Car was formerly fully rebuilt by previous owner, no accidents, Extremely good condition inside out.
5) COE till 5/2014, model year 1994. im the 4th owner.
pte message me pls to make an offer. nothing ridiculous ok?
