X1 making the family sick.

Could it be... the driver?

Or drivers- my wife can also make the kids sick in the X1.

But seriously, neither of us could make them sick in previous cars.. this is our first (and last) BMW, we have only ever gotten sick in X1 on a motorway..

Does anyone here who is happy with the X1 ride suffer from sea-sickness? We all do but we have never gotten sick in the car, and I felt queasy as the driver.

fully agree. Most of us on 18" and mine on 19" no problem. Confirm the driver.

Try not to jerk too much, i.e. smoother braking, avoid aggressive pickup etc...

Tire size is a good point: we have the basic 17"

Ok, so most people on 18, some on 19". Any RFT tyres?

Do most people here have xDrive 4x4, any sDrive models?

where have i read the exact posting... before? i am very sure.

i had fun with my x1. i did redo my alignment after the initial 2 weeks drive which was rather floaty... but now it feels planted and ready to sapu corner...

:oooops::oooops: did too many of those and wasnt able to hide them from my fren... who gave me the evil eye... :dramamam:

Yes, I have posted in several countries, I am in Spain.

BMW aligned the car after week 3, we are at week 4.5 and I still cannot take my family on the motorway because of the vibration in the cabin. there is intense vertical vibration from even the slightest bump in the road, and a horrible horizontal/ rotation movement when only one set of wheels hits an imperfection.

We are actually on vacation in a rental car as the hotel was a 3hr drive from home and we couldn't get there without getting sick.

the standard issue here for the 18i is 17" on RFTs, 20i is 18" RFTs. only sDrive. Petrol only. No diesel...

Wow. RFTs and nobody seriously thinks the ride is hard?
RFT are now optional in EU, they cost EUR300 more. The ride changes a lot with temperature, something that wont be a problem in Singapore.

Interesting the put 18" on the 20i which is basically the 18i with electronics to get the extras CV.

Has anyone tried swapping the 17" for 18" rims? Does the car have to be modified? There are post with problems of vibration between 80-130kmh after changing the factory fitted wheels.

Mine from 17" RFT to 19" non-RFT. Comfort level not much diff.

Changing tyres no need modification if your specs and offset and tyre size is correct.

Thank you- may I ask why you make the change? were you expecting a change in comfort?

Could you specify the tires? (we have 225/50 R17 94 H MICHELIN Primacy HP)

Change for aesthetic. If want ride comfort, stay with stock 17" rim but change to non-RFT. Tyre size deoends whether are you on staggered set up or not. Also depends what thickness you want. Assuming ysing same 225mm thickness, then the tyre sizes will be 225/45/R18, 225/40/R19 etc.
