Year of Manufacture

Hello,

I have a friend who is interest to buy a new E90 from PML but problem is the Colour that she wanted is quite rare and there is one left which manufactured date is Oct 2005. The SE there has quoted her very good overtrade abt 8K above market value and is considering. Just wanted to check if there will be any problem with the car first and also will the resale value be affected? Not too sure if the resale value is base on year of manufacture or date of registration! Thanks in advance!

Re: Year of Manufacture

One of the member here just bot a 330 that is manufactured in 2005 as well.

There is nothing wrong with getting a 05 production car and in fact, there are still quite a few 05 production car PML is selling now.

U only get problem if u intend to sell u within 2 to 3 years and the buyer may just use it as a levelage to press the price. So, in antispation, just use it as a levelage to lower the price from PML as well. Fair game... :)

Re: Year of Manufacture

I agree wif piggyboyz. the next buyer or dealer will def press down the price if it is YM05 when come tme to re-sell.

In fact I was offered a more attractive overtrade than 8k if i were to opt for the YM05 but I declined. Having said that, if you do not mind then there is good bargain for you to sniff out! Good luck in your bargaining! Cheers.

Re: Year of Manufacture

oct 2005 should actually be a 2006 YOM car as BMW's manufacturing cycle starts in september.

there were a few problems reported in earlier batches of E90s so the chance is yours to take. also, some interior trims and minor details may vary between different YOM, as will the OMV so do check those out as well.

Re: Year of Manufacture

most buyers dont care for YOM when acquiring second hand... but there are few buyers out there who care... most only ask registration date in Spore...

Re: Year of Manufacture

YOM also makes a difference when you try to export the car body later on. Question is whether the downside then is as much as what you save now - probably not since export bodies are like $10-30k so an $8k saving is a lot I think.
