Yellowish spots on chrome lips

Does anyone can enlighten me on how to maintain and get rid off the yellowish spots on the lip of the rim? Or is this a no cure and leave them to the last stage before get it re-sprayed?

hi mate,

is e e yellowish spots u r talking abt in lump form??? if it is, there is noting much u can do...........if it just some stain, u might want to try using a "Shiner".....tat is wat ur wife would use for shining her nails.......

it is a ice-cream stick looking shape with file on 1 side n shiner on e other side......tat should work on some stains but not sure it will work for ur case.....

Important: do not steal ur wife's shiner or u'll be in trouble.......

u can get it frm Guardian or Watsons........

Khim, few questions:

(1) Are the lips of your wheels chrome or polished?
(2) Are you referring to stains from brake dust?

Paiseh, paiseh. Just looked up from Breyton's site, it is actually a high polished stainless steel lip. Misleading thread title..

I actually thought the brake dust is easily removed by the wheel cleaning spray and rinse off with water. But these spots seem to stuck on the surface and not easily removed. Tried scratching them out by nails, its hard.

Khim, few questions:

(1) Are the lips of your wheels chrome or polished?
(2) Are you referring to stains from brake dust?

Paiseh, paiseh. Just looked up from Breyton's site, it is actually a high polished stainless steel lip. Misleading thread title..

If you have left the brake dust on the lip for too long, it "oxidised" and stained the lip, especially on high-polished lips. Remove them using normal rim wash agent, then apply jewellery polish (example Mr Metal) on those lips. Yes, jewellery polish - if they are good for your watches, they are good enough for your wheels. They should slowly remove the stain very very slowly. To completely remove the stain, you know you will be "sanding" down a thin layer of your polished lips. After you clean up your lips, you will know that prevention is better than cure. Turtle Wheel Wax is good too.

Do not use Autosol or Brasso on your wheels. They work better on brass and copper, too abrasive on polished alloys.

Chrome lips are easier to maintain in that sense, but kerbing will be another issue. Gotta be really carefully with polished or chrome lips.

Wow, that modding list looked fierce, mate. With kit n performance parts coming along, your ride is going to be damn chio for sure.

You can either use attachment (image size restricted) or insert image (by entering the url where you stored your photos on the web, e.g. like flickr, photobucket, etc...).
