Re: You voted for the pap??

I dont want PAP to lose, but I dont want opposition to lose badly either. I want it to be a close fight so PAP will the pressure, wake up and run better.

Chay! Pay him S$4.2 million a year just to do that? And some more need people to advise him. I can do the same thing for half the price.

Re: You voted for the pap??

With Cost of Living and Properties prices unrealistic......the opposition parties look like a better choice. Come May 7, that is the TURNING POINT of Singapore. Bros there, what your view on opposition. They look well organised this time round.

Re: You voted for the pap??

Opposition may "look" more organized but so far have not offered any clues on how to resolve high cost of living. Easy to complain. Not so easy to give real world solutions.

IMHO I think we all have to look past the advertising and see whether the contents have quality or not.

reduce gst from 7 to 4 then 3 in the next few years.
lower PUB!
lower public transport charges

new HDB prices should be peck to cost not market forces.

Re: You voted for the pap??

It is evident none of the incumbent or opposition parties has a solution to a inflationary environment. Both sides are merely finger pointing, not addressing the issue. But the incumbent appears to be shoving its responsibilities, or rather, to have proven itself against the topic.

In this regard, I will not vote for them. Will I vote opposition? Perhaps, not a firm yes either.

Re: You voted for the pap??

Lower new HDB cost too drastically, re-sale price will also drop significantly. Then upgraders cannot go to condo, then also start to kow pay kow bu.

Many things are linked and cannot look at one solution in isolation. Please one bunch, piss off another.

Let's face it, it's a tough job and not many people want to sit in that hot seat, let alone come up with good solutions...

HDB is for staying, not for profiteering or steping stone to condo!!
i rather they take care of the lower income, piss off the rich lor!

Re: You voted for the pap??

Lower new HDB price may not lower resale prices since only 1st time buyer qualify for the grants?

Will situation be like this if not for misreading supply/demand over the last few years?

Re: You voted for the pap??

We don't have public utilities, no public transport provider, because all become profit making private/listed company. Every thing pegged to market rate, every year profit must go up.
Then they transfer left hand to right hand and lost the money away.
And got paid highly for that.
Dulan.

Public everything may not be a good thing ................ public everything mean bigger government budget. Bigger government budget means higher taxes as taxes are the main source of government income.

Australia and California are 2 places where public spendings are huge and the public anything is still quite bad. When government revenue is in deficit - the tax regime remains high but the quality of the public anything get lowered to cut cost.

Re: You voted for the pap??

Think we all need to bite the bullet and face a realisation...currently the younger generation are struggling and things could be worse for the next...what's the point of living in a so call "1st World Country" when I fear to fall ill in my retirement, when I have to contemplate becoming a MacDonald uncle during graveyard shift (day shift likely taken up by FTs) and watching my children struggling long hours, sacrifying quality family time etc etc.... afraid to read the news coz some creative policies may be announced that make cost of living even higher, e.g. another 30% pay rise for the elite, they wants a Flying Vanda 1 (as in AirForce 1) for their diplomatic travel etc etc ...

IMO, it doesn't get any worse even if I were to vote for Brobot, he believed CPF can be used for buying BMWs..

Actually when the subject of ridiculous sky high pte condo prices were raised last time, I was also shopping around for a new condo, either in Singapore or elsewhere in case I would like to emigrate.

I recently stayed in Surfers Paradise which I thought was a damn wonderful place to settle in and rented an apartment in Q1 on the 55th floor, (about 1650 sq feet). I asked how much if I bought it and the agent told me A$780-800k nego. (that's about S$1.06M. The unit was about 5yrs old) and it was considered quite expensive by Australian standards. The 1st pic is the panoramic ocean view taken from the agent's website.

In Singapore many of us like to have that coveted Sea View from our balconies and we all know sea views come at a high price..so I went to Sea View Condo to view one unit, 1650 sq feet and the 2nd pic (also from the agent's website) was the view from the balcony and the agent said it was one of the best sea view units liao. The unit was asking S$2.5M !

In Sg, we pay sky high prices to get a supposed sea view and then see container tankers cluster farking the sea, which is green and nothing much to see after that. Whereas, in Gold Coast, the ocean is BLUE and the views stunning.

I think Singaporeans are just suckers.
