Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

Saw a red Z4M coupe advertised by PPS. Am quite keen on it but I noticed that this car is quite rare locally. This lead me to ask some questions which I hope other forumers can share their views:

1. Reasons car is in small quantity locally.
2. New is S$289k. Realistically, what's the net price like if new?
3. OMV is S$67k (only). So based on current used price of S$227k, I am looking at depn of $20k. Should I sell a year later, what would the depn be then?
4. Reviews on the car indicates that you have to grab it by the scruff of its neck and really wring it to meet the car's potential. Honestly, I don't have skills close to what's required. So, for normal daily driving, how would the ride, handling and feel good factor be?

If not convenient to discuss publicly, perhaps via pm? Thanks!

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

drove the Z4 Coupe 3.0SI.

The engine is unburstable, the engine note is great, exhaust note can be improved aftermarket.

The car is just beautiful, so aggressive and classic in shape. It is way more exclusive than the Cayman.

Turn in is not great, ride is too firm, and balance is not there. But it is REAL fun to drive, especially in manual.

The thing going for this car is its beautiful shape, exclusivity, unburstable engine and fun to drive factor - when I say fun to drive it does not mean finesse - for that the Cayman rules - but in that in that car, you feel like a hooligan once again and drive the shit outta it.

But before you buy this car, you have to test drive it first, back to back with the Cayman or Cayman S. This is because this car is UNIQUE in its drivability. I can't even describe the feeling, you must try it yourself.

THEN you decide.

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

probably like 3 units locally...saw the ads too last week

Z4M is a fun car to be had...but IMO, definitely not for novice.
The car is much less forgiving vs the rest of the M variants.

At 227k for mid 07 it seems qutie a good price to me
U gotta love the S54 motor...

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

Drove the mentioned car this Sunday! It is a manual - and not the slickest of manuals. It requires a bit of work... as does the clutch. The steering is different too from normal cars. However, if you can master all this, then this car is way more rewarding than a normal Z4 or most other 2 seater sporty ones for that matter - Cayman is better though :)

Go for it I would say. I thought the price was good too - and it looks absolutely sexy! Especialyl with the black interior!

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

stormtrooper style is best.

if i had the BMW I would mod the hell outta it especially the exhaust. This one deserves a tubi if one were available for it. Not for the power, but for the pure obnoxiousness.

This car makes one a farker!!!!

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

Completely different drive from a normal Z4 3.0 and a M..

2 different animals, and definitely for the purist driver.

I had the Z4M for 48 hours and it is absolutely thrilling. Nothing like a rev crazy engine.

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

i drove only the cab version of the Z4M (that one everybody drive before)

It had totally a different feel from the Z4 Coupe, but in the sense that the cab version, even M, had a really soft chassis. The suspension was too hard for the chassis, even trashing. If I were to get a Z4 Cab I'll get one with really SOFT suspension to match the chassis.

I never did get to drive a Z4M coupe though.

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

Yep the Z4M should be a blast ...with that S54...normal z4 with 3.0 is already a damn good one ! whatmore a 100hp+ more..yikes !!
If u ever get it and need to learn how to wrestle with bitch, i'd recommend u to get in touch with Geoff, this boyo sure knows z4's well. hehe....

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

The chasis is stiiffer than CaymanS, that's wot has been reported in some press

And re the OMV vs selling price, ...u shud know why CaymanS sold like hotcakes.
Z4M coupe/roadsters sales here are total failure...

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

the Z4M just kept making me wanto drive on and on and on and on....
go home late, slp as little as possible, wake up early and continue driving...hahaha....
and all that wonderful popping n fizzing backfire sound when u clutch-in... pooft pofffft.... booof.........

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

The Z4 coupe is stiff, but not the Z4 roadster topless. I think the press report the coupe is stiffer than cayman (but short of a race car, damn I can't feel the difference).

if Z4M Coupe S$67K OMV, WA LIAO then no brainer than the choice should be Cayman S. When I was considering both I didn't bother ask about OMV.... if I did my choice would be even simpler.

you look like a candidate for the old aircool 911 ....

Re: Z4M Coupe - Worth It?

The steering is different too from normal cars

The Z4M uses back conventional hydraulic powersteering whreas the regular uses electric ps which is far lighter....
