Re: Zipping in a Z4

I would love to do most of these things, only that I am a foreigner here yet not sure how long I will be here so thinking if I should sink in more money into this car if the next buyer wont care. That said thanks for the advice! might get some of the things done to spruce up the looks of the car rather than performance :)

Re: Zipping in a Z4

Anyone got an warranty extension letter (esp for those who bought from PML) for HPFP? Just this week, BMW in the US sent out warranty extension letters to E89 S35i owners to extend their emission warranty on HPFP to 10 years or 120k miles (which ever comes first).
Although the chances of a total HPFP failure is low, it is good to get that coverage though. Good to give PML a call.:singsing:

Re: Zipping in a Z4

what happens in the US may not necessarily apply here. just in the case of toyota.

Re: Zipping in a Z4

hey guys, i think i'll be changing my z4's speakers too...any sound recommendations and specs specially for the z4? (Can't seem to find it in the ICE section)

Re: Zipping in a Z4

i think i'll be changing my z4's speakers too...any sound recommendations and specs specially for the z4?

I dumped my stock and replaced them with Hertz 3-way speakers system. Sound quality is alot clearer and less muddled. In the stock speakers placement, the tweeter slots are empty. Only the doors, kick panels and in the panel behind the seats have stock speakers installed. Do note that the stock HU does not have enough power to do justice to my new speakers. You won't want to change the HU as it is too integrated with the rest of the car's electronics. I added an additional amp and let the speaker's cross-overs handle the frequency loading. Did not want to complicate the whole thing with DSPs.

Size of the speakers is an important consideration. The slots in the door and the kick panel are not big. Only 3.5" and 6" or smaller speakers (for the doors and kick panel) can fit into snugly into those tight spaces. Also, don't even bother to try thick, huge cabling. These will not fit into the door panels. Z4's door panel is amazingly well optimized. My installer took 2-3 hrs to find space and get the cross-overs into right position.

Hope the above helps
