Considering switch from E46 to E90

Re: Considering switch from E46 to E90 Depends on what you're looking for. E46 318i to E90 320i to me is not much of an upgrade. Like what Jack said, look at the aerospace deals, or for a true upgrade, wait for the 323i pricing to be out...

    for e46ers

Re: for e46ers Thanks for the link! Good stuff. I'm actually glad that many of the issues are known and well-documented. E.g., the radiator and the worn bushings: to me, these are wear-n-tear items, so best to change at the recommended intervals...

    Why doesn't PML have this?

Re: Why doesn't PML have this? For SM Motors, talked to their CSA, seems like for the larger cars (read: XC90. S80, V70), they will give taxi vouchers even for routine servicing. For the other cars, he said it was up to the CSA... off the record! :)

    E90 323i

Re: E90 323i Think BMW will need the 323i (2.5L i-6) to compete more effectively with the IS250. The current 320i will probably stay as the volume seller for the E90 range... If you look at the German or European BMW websites, they actually have a 318i too...

    Body value of e46

Re: Body value of e46 PARF paper at 5% discount (some negotiable to 3%), according to one dealer I talked to, seems like the amount of dereg PARF paper not as much as before.

How much mileage can a typical steptronic gearbox last?

Re: How much mileage can a typical steptronic gearbox last? on e46fanatics, some have reported 150k to 175k before slippage occurs. There are two school of thoughts on changing the ATF though... :)

E90 320i Engine takes quite a lot of rattling to start

Re: E90 320i Engine takes quite a lot of rattling to start You mean the Rosyth plant in SA is also assembling the N42 valvetronic engines? For RHD cars, try and follow the UK forums (e46fanatics typically more american...) some of them have reached really high mileage, so it's an...

    Body value of e46

Re: Body value of e46 What body value? :) Like what martmode8850 said, depends on demand and supply. If you are deregistering together with hundreds of other E46, then the price will be lower. If there is no demand in places like NZ, Cyprus, etc, then price will be lower. If you're buying...

    New Alpine 2-Din

Re: New Alpine 2-Din Most likely you will need to mod AC vents (lower part of the 2DIN). If I recall correctly, the spacing is less than 12cm. Alternatively, build a larger enclosure, but it will protrude from your facia. Looks weird. Thanks for the great link, been following CES to see who...

Sway bars and broken rear sway bar tabs

Calling all suspension gurus... saw this on the UUC website on FAQs on sway bars: What about the rear bar? A common misconception is that the increase in rear bar stiffness alone is the sole cause for bent (or broken) rear sway bar tabs (the tabs which mount the sway bar bushings). In...

Brake combo - Zimmerman discs + Bendix Ultimate pads

Re: Brake combo - Zimmerman discs + Bendix Ultimate pads Thumbs-up for the pads, but it gives same (if not more) dust than stock. Didn't use the same set of rotors, so can't really comment there.

    lost my key

Re: lost my key Sounds about right. At least for the E39/E46, you can't get the keys duplicated outside of the BMW dealer network. While you can make the physical cut, the immobiliser needs to be programmed by factory. You can ask them to disable the lost key, so that even if someone tries...

520 (E60) Wiper blades worn out

Re: 520 (E60) Wiper blades worn out Get original ones from e.g., Eng Soon or other suppliers you see on the resources page. Call them to ask for pricing. OEM should be Bosch. Sometimes PML is cheaper if there is discount. Ask around.

    Need new wipers blades: Recommendations?

Re: Need new wipers blades: Recommendations? Use back stock wipers, can get from PML (if there is a discount), or from e.g., Eng Soon. Good to change every 12-18 months.
