19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

Would you pick 19" or 18"?

I believe 19" will make the car looks good but the rubber cost is higher too.

As for performance, will a 18" be better than a 19" in terms of pick up?

Which tyres will you recommend to buy for grippy during wet and dry weather and low noise?

19ins......................PSS

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers

Re: 19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

It's the weight that matters for pickup e.g 19" that is lighter than your 18" - less unsprung weight.

Re: 19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

Go for 19"s. Cost differential on wheels not that much - but looks-wise, a lot of differences.

Agree on PSS. Rubbers save lives.

Re: 19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

Go for 19" definitly...dun think there's much diff in pick-up, fuel efficiency etc.. at least in my personal experience with both sizes..

As for tyres, I'm currently on PSP & i must admit its damn gooooooood...!!!

My previous ride was on CSC5P & it was good as well honestly. I was almost certain on buying the same till I saw the PSPs...

I observed the sidewalls on CSC5p to 'sag' over time..casuing the edges to look more 'roundish' than 'squarish' like the PSP..the sidewalls on PSPare firmer, hence it looks more sporty & aggressive..

Just my 2 cents worth...happy shopping!!

Looks n pickup are not lovers thus can only choose one brudder ~~

I go for 19'' cos E90 320i itself is a slow car (for show & sart sart feel) :nehnehhh:

Re: 19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

There is a consistent flawed assumption that 19" should lose to 18" in pickups.

One, you should compare weight of wheels. There are many 19" wheels that are lighter than 18" or 17". Materials.

Two, you should consider the design. An 18" lipped wheel, with all the heavy weight located at the edge, could be harder to spin than a monoblock forged 19" wheel. Where is the weight located?

Three, take tyre weight into account, please. A 19" setup with light wheels and tyres could enjoy better pick up than stock 17" wheels with heavy RFTs.

bridgestone...next change better design and quality!

Would a breyton, BC and after original rims be lighter than BMW OEM rims?

Bridgestones and Yokos are good in wet/dry grip but poor in wear rate and weight, compare to PSS. I had the RE11 on my 335.

Must weigh them and compare. I know for sure the likes of Volks, Prodrive are lighter than OEM even 2 sizes smaller.

Depends on cast or forged after market rims.
I have a set of OEM 19" rims for sale, that is lighter than certain cast aftermarket rims.

Re: 19" or 18" rims? Which tyres?

based on the no of 19" used rims being posted to sell

i think 18" would be a better choice

tyre must be GY F1A2

Huh? What's the logic?
I was on 19". I bought a car with 19" and change to another 19". So need to sell existing rims. This means 18" is better?

LOL.... fantastic logic......
