Price for 523 a little too high, unless they throw in alot of other stuff like HUD, Sunroof, Lane Departure, GPS etc....

Compared to a E200 or something, it won't be able to compete.
523 should be compared with E250? E250 going for around $195K?

Don't think current 5-er has soft close. Not even the 525. Some of the last few units of 523 that PML sold around 3/08 - 6/08 might have.
Current batch of 525 has suctions doors as "standard". Clearance sale!!

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

523 F10 188k i thought its a bit expensive. My neigbour told me his friend have booked one for $17x k.
Anyway, 525 for year 08 onwards, suction doors are standard option. BTW suction door really that useful meh?
Most of the time never get to use it .. just slam and close ..

honestly...... the more things in it.... the more problems might arise... normal sensible options like sunroof , comfort access and suction doors and common ones are fine...

but weird new technology..i rather not take... the previous E60... activesteering was horribly problematic ater 3 years... and dynamic drive also having problems.. new breakthru i rather not opt..

in short...dont opt for things that u not gonna use / or just sounds nice...

just my 2 cents

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

my 735i has been trouble-free and it's actually the Soft Close Doors that are problematic. a few times, it even jammed due to passengers not accustomed to it (door not completely closed, so they open it while the mechanism was trying to auto-close).

for someone who doesnt care about the driving experience, i believe a 730iL will make much more sense (costing a little more only). and that i believe maybe the ultimate marketing aim - skip the 535i and get the 730iL instead :)

that's interesting. my sales-woman's impression of the shift speed is very different from your observation.

Terry, what kind of problem can the dynamic drive give?

I think those people who can afford a 535 go for it over 730 because of the driving experience, otherwise all sure choose the baseline version liao

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

Is there 730I in the new model? My relative got the 740IL which he says is pretty powerful and luxurious but thats a 300k+ car right????

Re: 2010 - new 5 series pricing

OT, in the vid, the driver put 2 hands permanently on the steering wheel even during cornering. IMO, it looks a little stiff. I think a lot of us don't drive that way ;)

and those who go for the 535i for the driving experience invariably prefer their money be spent on driver-centric options rather than comfort-oriented ones like Comfort Access, Soft Close Doors and Parking Assistant.

otherwise why a 535i? might as well get a 523i - same look, same badge, same space. gosh, same-size wheels even.
