If PAR beats SPA, then it will be an all South American semi. Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

Two Guays, one ARG, and one BRA.

Tevez: Mexico are better than GermanyJune 30, 2010
Email Print By Soccernet staff

Carlos Tevez has contributed to a developing war of words between Argentina and Germany ahead of Saturday's World Cup quarter-final in Cape Town by insisting that vanquished Mexico are a more fearsome side than Joachim Low's team.

Quarter-final preview

• Schweinsteiger accuses Argentina
• Ozil "has outshone" Messi
• Blog: How do we beat Germany?

Argentina beat Mexico 3-1 in the second round - with the aid of a goal scored when Tevez was clearly offside - to set up a meeting with Germany, who defeated England 4-1 in Bloemfontein to reach the last eight in some style.

Argentina and Germany met at the same stage four years ago and after the South American side were defeated on penalties, players and staff from both sides were involved in a fracas on the pitch. Clearly the wounds have not entirely healed as Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger said on Wednesday that Argentina show a "lack of respect" in the way they conduct themselves.

Now Tevez has added to the ill-feeling surrounding the game by claiming Mexico play a better brand of football than the Germans and that the prospect of taking on Low's side does not fill him with dread.

"I was more afraid of Mexico than Germany," Tevez told Clarin. "Because the Mexicans play better football. They took the ball from us in the first minutes of the first half and at the start of the second. We would have suffered more if we hadn't struck at the right moments."

After his offside goal, Tevez scored a brilliant effort from outside the box against Mexico to justify his place in an Argentina side that has impressed, and indeed surprised many observers by winning all four of their World Cup games to date.

With Saturday's quarter-final fast approaching, The Manchester City striker admits he cannot contemplate leaving South Africa without a World Cup medal tucked safely under his arm.

"I have a hunger for glory so great that I can't even imagine not winning the cup," Tevez said. "It would be very sad, I could not bear to lose on Saturday."

I should add...You know why Indians cannot make it to the world cup because they always miss the heading ...
