335 owners - anyone with idling issues?

Hi there

Have been having idling issues with my car for the past 2 months. Symptoms are as follows
  • RPMs drops, engine feels like it is struggling to keep revs up and then after 1-2 seconds, engine goes back to normal idle. Happens at during cold starts and if the engine has been idling for a while, eg at a traffic light
  • Occasionally, engine struggles to rev in light throttle applications
  • No long cranks and no codes are triggered
Fuel pump, all six injectors and spark plugs have been changed. Car has been in and out of the dealer and nothing seems to work

Car has some hardware mods ie intercooler, dual intakes, oil cooler, exhaust but no tune

A few people in the US have experienced the exact symptoms and most have been resolved by changing the valve cover.

Anyone with similar issue and if so, what was done to rectify the situation?

tks!

Strange that it happened in your ride, without tune. Most of the symptoms concurred to "galloping" - for 335s running speed sensor wire together with a piggyback. You will get idling hunting and the car will rev aggresively between 600 - 2000 RPM - hence the term "galloping."

Sounds like you have an issue with the valvetronic cam sensor. It's a sensor on the top of the valve cover that senses the position of the valvetronic adjustment shaft.

Do target that sensor during your stints with PML.

Tks for the suggestion but don't think the N54 comes with valvetronic? Vanos yet but valvetronic I thought no?

Yes, it is weird. Even when I had the tune with the max speed delimited, I did not have the idling issues. Car runs fine in WOT and when pushed.....it is just very weird
