S5!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 345bhp 440nm 4.2L V8 engine! Combined with Audi's renowned build quality, DSG and 4-wheel drive! Now that is one NICE car! :)

I WANT TO GO!

U just collected yr 335 why so kancheong suddenly:)

How come 4.2 V8 only 345 bhp? smaller pistons that RS4 engine?

Re: 335i alternatives

Sam,

RS5 waiting for in 2 years time hor! Only 450bhp and 600Nm........muhahaha
If u are really keen to go for the Audi Revelation tom night, let me know. ;)

Re: 335i alternatives

Give up the TT lah....while the looks are great, the back seats are for midgets and for that price, rather go for the slk 280 since "both" are two seaters anyway :)

Re: 335i alternatives

welbo, are you thinking of changing from your current RS4 to the RS5 in 2 years? :)

Re: 335i alternatives

Pricing wise? Seating capacity wise? Plenty of alternatives...

But real alternative to 335? NONE.
Well, until u can get the audi s5 here.

Re: 335i alternatives

Hi everyone!

Many thanks for all your suggestions and special thanks to four4s for a detailed comparison of the TT vs 335!
I gave up my hope of getting the new car by CNY and finally signed up for a 335i coupe today.
I decided against the TT and 630i as their rear seats were a little small. (Yes, the 630i is smaller than the 335i.)

Anyway, delivery is tentatively Feb/March 08. I figured that I can still change my mind if something better shows up before factory date in December/January -- such as the new S5. :) :)

Here are some new cars info for those of you interested:
- 630i is due for face lift in September
- 730i is being phased out next year and now going for $268k
- There are 70 outstanding orders for the 335 pending delivery. With demand going up, I don't suppose 335 will be a rare breed..
- X5 preview coming
- M3 will be priced around $360k

Starting my count down timer: T - 8 months and waiting.. :juggle:

Cheers

Re: 335i alternatives

70 backlog orders and 8 months wait for 335? woow! This must be a new guiness world record.

PA is already taking orders for the S5. Abt $250k region. Eta Mar next yr. It is a manual but AWD. The V8 engine sound is orgasmic and not too far off RS4's I must say.

PA brought in a LHD version and showcased it at 1degree15 for 2 days last Wed and Thur. It was BEAUTIFUL! No expense spared in the interior dept. ICE is Bang & Olufsen and not Bose found in TT or RS4. Hoot!:)

Re: 335i alternatives

70+ outstanding orders with about 15-20+ 335i on the roads now.. About 100+ 335i, definitely not a rare breed!

Re: 335i alternatives

congrats on your choice apollo. Glad i could help as i went thru exactly the same decision process as you... with almost the same conclusions (i.e. 630 is smaller which surprised me as well!).

yep S5 pricing already confirmed... not 250k, but 245k offer for first batch.... difficult to purchase if no test drive tho.... wouldn't say no expense spared though. first gripe with it was no seatbelt assistant just like the audi TT... no auxiliary input to sound system as well etc. But exterior is very beautiful cos of the S styling... normal A5 from pics looks plain in comparison.

S5 is not a alternative for 335.
S5 road tax will kill u

People willing to spend quarter million for a car shdn't have to worry abt rd tax. But let's analyse it further. The diff in annual rd tax betw a BMW 335 (3 litre) and an Audi S5 (4.2 litre) is probably abt $2.5k a yr. If u intend to drive for 3 yrs, the diff is $7.5k. Not a real killer if u ask me.

Re: 335i alternatives

they're not going after the 335i coupe for the S5 according to my SA. if so, similar performance to 335i but the audi is more expensive (and that's for a manual!)? they think most peeps won't be tempted. Instead, they have been instructed to pitch it against the 6 series... then it'll look value for money.
abt build quality/feel... try closing the boot lid of the S5, and then try the same on a bmw 3 coupe and make your mind up from there. Regardless, the S5 should still be a good seller for audi.
