Another case of if only I have installed that video cam on the front and rear..... lesson learn guys... MTL!

The situation looks ominous Vypez, lawyer to fight a case like this will not come cheap. Perhaps u can provide more detaisl.....

yes, if only ... but no difference, as he hit my right rear!

summary :

travelling along SLE on first lane, taxi comes up fast.
saw him in rearview, started changing lane to left to avoid him
taxi came up really fast, brushed against my right rear
i stopped on shoulder and observed damage and he came out too
was shouting and pretty hostile, so i took photos and all then left
made a insurance report but didnt bother to proceed for repairs as i didnt have time (so minor!)
received a police letter asking me to make a report as passenger was claiming injury
made a police report and then couple of months later, received a TP summon

I will play devil's advocate here.


If the situation is as bad as what TS said..re being fined and penalised in points by TP and coupled with the taxi driver's claims of such huge amounts...TS comes in here feeling only "indignant" and to ask for advice???? I would have become delirious.

I venture to add that any SANE person who recieved such claims and charges would have camped outside his/her lawyer's office the night before to ask what can he/she do about it...

bro, i wasn't aware of the claim amount nor the charges, until i got the TP letter then i called up my insurance. i also got no lawyer office to camp outside of, btw.

It's some credibility thingy........

Taxi passenger are so called 'not related to the driver'.............
Ur personal vehicle..... If there are passengers... 99% it's ur family or friends.......

Unless u have passing vehicles owners who are willing to be your witness..... (you might be thinking... Wtf.. I just ask 1 of my friend (pretend dunno each other) to say he drove pass and saw it.... Yes, you can do that but if the case got bigger.. Witness needs to go court... So it would be how good ur so call 'witness friend' willing to go out for u and lie in the court....... (if found out.. Ur witness can go jail).............

You did posted out ur side of version on the accident... If u think u are right... Dun pay the fine.. Appeal to TP...

Btw.... From your side of story above..... The taxi frt left brushed your car rear right while u switching lane and the taxi overtaking u on your right??

If that's true.... You shld go ask TP why u are at fault???

I kena the same situation. i now insist on car camera. With a back up mobile camera to take more video and pictures.

When accident, take lots of videos and pictures, including the taxi's passengers as well. He/she if claiming injury is also consider as "damages" mah.... :shock:

And try to avoid taxi at all costs. Because of the penalty and insurance, they sure to try to claim from you one. No harm trying mah. So try to avoid them.......

This process of having a witness to claim against someone or to have the police act against someone is quite universal.

Been taking taxis for an entire week while the car is being worked on - at least 10 taxi rides.

7 taxis got camers. I can say that now you can expect that taxis will go to their insurers and the police with a movie clip.

Don't mess with taxis. TP see the clip straight away send summons.

Vypez, u should get a copy of the taxi's report to see what he said. He probably said opposite though... that u switch lane from left to right then he brush ur rear. He got witness and u don't have... makes your case weaker.

any report on the passenger injury? doc certification? if fraud, must pursue all the way..real unfortunate...best part is insurance companies will always not be on your side I feel....they give me the impression they like ppl to make claim against u...will accept wo yr acknowledgement...best get a lawyer...someone to access yr damage if that kind of impact can cause such serious injury....sorry but no offence...cabbies tend to be the worst type...

There is no way to sue a specialist or doctor unless u prepare to lose with compensation for causing defamation to their professions.
