Accident -> PML or SWC

involved in a chain collision in AYE .... ... already reported to idac at bukit batok.

in front another chain ... about 5-6 cars

1st
2nd - my car
3rd
4th
5th

1st car brake, i brake and stopped completely (for at least 2-3 secs). 3rd car also brake but before it stopped completely, 4th can hit him and he hit me. 5th car hit 4th car (minor, side bumper dent)

the way i see it the problem is the 4th car ... front bonnet crumble, both front airbags activated. if he didnt bang 4th car hard enough, 4th car should not hit me.

my damage

front bumper -> license plate damage, front grill disintegrated but still attached, centre bumper dent and many scratches. fog lights area all good.

rear bumper -> centre dented, tow hook cover broken, diffuser misaligned, many scratches.

my m-aero bmw original kit is installed at swc mike

1. should i go back to milke and let him to the claim ? mike do 3rd party claim right. if mike do the claim, i'm afraid there is some issue with the front especially the engine area. but judging by the front bumper damage, the chances is low but nothing is certain.

2. should i go to pml and let them do the claim ? will they do as my m-aero is installed at mike. heard pml will do owner claim first for repair and msig (my insurance) will claim 3rd party.

3. i'm 2nd car and i swear that i had stopped completely but 4th car hit 3rd car hit me and i kena sandwiched. will i be claimed by 1st and 3rd car ?

4. i'm told all claim to last car is no longer valid. all car will claim car behind. is this true ? this mean i will also kena claim by 1st car ? should i settle with him privately because his bumper is superficially scratched only. honda stream ...

so far the car is driven okay and not big issue. but, that certainly spoil my xmas and new year too. my wife is relief and praying for me that no injury .. i love her

please advise.

bro, sorry to hear this. i hope both you and your wife are fine. recommend to stick to swc to do the claims - quite sure they can resolve all the issues related to insurance claims. pml may present some challenges and complicate matters which will irritate you more at this juncture. for your case, very difficult to show that you have brake though. see what swc can do about this. during this period, i really recommend a problem free solution.

Glad u and loved ones are ok. That is most important.

If under warranty, go back PML. May take longer time for repairs though.

sorry to hear such thing happened during festive season...

you can choose to settle the 1st car privately since the damage is not serious, if he agree with private settlement, this case, you became the 1st car, no one will claim you.

if above settled, send to PML for repair, they will claim your 1st party insurance (standard procedure), then your insurance company will subsequently claim 3rd party on the 3rd car (which is now the 2nd). the whole process takes about 6 months or so.

The most important thing is the front car (1st car) must sign an agreement (I think it's called a Release Letter) with you, bcos if he seow seow one day decided to claim you, might cause claiming disruption.

outside workshops more flexible in ways of claiming, downsides are they may not solve some engine or mechanical problems, another one is over claim...

my insurance policy is due in feb 11. i guess the best way to proceed is to do 3rd party claim for repair instead of claim ownself and then let MSIG to claim other party for recovery ... it takes months and most likely affect my premium and ncd (50%) in renewing my insurance policy in feb 11.

read posts in MCF and mostly said in a chain collision, front car will claim behind car until the last car got no one to claim
the way i see it is the 4th car that cannot stopped completely. his front damaged is severe and rear damage is minimum. his repair work will claim the car behind (last car) jialat ....

i would recommend you repair from SWC or anywhere else instead of PML. PML will claim owner first and insurance will claim 3rd party...but how long before its done?? i once did that and it took about 2 years before the insurance companies settled it...90% in my favor..but by then i already kenna the NCB premium increase etc...and MSIG said will refund adjust premium etc..but how will i know if they really got adjust premium etc?

i just open the bonnet and everything looks good as i would have expected
only the front & rear bumper are dented
with the attached photo, i think swc should be able to help me to do 3rd party claim on the car behind me

IMHO, if your car still under warranty, go back to PML. If no more warranty, go to SWC.

since your bodykit was did at SWC, go back there. they will help you settle. and for any accidents, always avoid claim on ownself in my opinion

I was involved in 4 cars chain collison few years back (mine was 3rd car).
The 2nd car claimed me and the workshop I went claimed the last car for me.
I didn't fork out a cent and NCD not affected.
The claim process took 2 yrs plus.
