Advice: Vibration from front wheels

Things like control arm bushing, unbalanced wheel, faulty steering colum can contribute to wobbly steering.

It's better to get a workshop to check than guessing from here...

do it step by step:
re-balance your front wheels, if problem persists, check the control arm bushing (replace if necessary) and finally have the steering column and suspension check for unserviceable parts.

let me know if you are changing your suspensions as my car's suspension is due for replacement too. would like to get some tips from you.

Just realised that left of car is higher...

Been suspecting that this might be a problem., I measured the clearance of the front two wheels. Left side is higher by 10mm, it like slanged slightly to the right...

Will look like a trip to the workshop soon.

it's normal for e36 to incline to one side, i.e. right side ground clearance is less than left side. 10mm seems normal to me. in fact if your check the rear ground clearance, you may detect a similar situation. it is perfectly normal and it is due to the weight distribution of the car. if the different is larger than that, then it may be due to 'tired' springs but you can check them by bouncing the car a few times.

It also could be ur ball joint..
I had the same problems like urs..vibrations and thug sounds appear.after changing the ball joints..all are ok.

but anyway.get an expert to trouble shoot for u first...like the other mentioned..it could be anything from ur steering column down right to ur suspension..

Gd Luck

The differences in clearance is normal for e36. Like the others have said, it might be your alignment and wheel balance or your steering bushings. Go get a pro to check it out. Fastest and best way to cure the problem

same bloody problem for me as well - exactly between 90-100kmph
on an e34
bvo (expert/pro) could not identify straight away the problem, their advice also is to start fixing all the above problem areas one by one and eliminate each one. so bloody painful, especially since you will have to first visit some wheel guy to get the wheel thing checked fixed ($), then you will have to get new suspensions fixed ($$) and then only will you find out if the steering column and associated ($$$$) were causing the problem :(
anybody can suggest somebody who can eliminate by inspection on ly any of the above causes !!

Guys,

I had the same problem..
But rectified already...
I bought the the whole set of ball joint @ $80. So a pair cost $160.
Not forgetting the bush which had to be pressed! It will cost $32 a pair..
Now the "dildo" effect has gone... :)

Hahaha! I like it.. the "dildo effect" hahaha! But seriously, if something like that happens to you, get it fixed. FAST. not good to much around with your safety.
