Hi guys,

Just to share the replacement of the air-con compressor.

1st, it's not damn expensive to replace

2nd, it's considered a maintenance part of wear and tear. Usually breaks down every 3-5 years with daily usage.

3rd, down time is only 2 hours



How it happened?
Just suddenly not cold one day,

What should u suspect when air-con is not cold???
1. Usually cooling coil leaking air-con gas
2. Air-con compressor
"Note" - usually is either or breaks down and not both together.

What are the main components of the air-con system? (For ur knowledge)
Compressor
Condenser
Cooling coil
Drier
Expansion valve
Heater coil
Heater valve







For my case, this time the air-con compressor is down and simply just replace it.

Different shops selling range from $550 to $640 +/-

But I know I am a heavy user for my car. So no choice. Take care of car so car takes care of u

I don't know what is the rotary type.
I change back to the same compressor as before

Bmw has high wear n tear. Just change my alternator , engine n tranny mount and rear brake rotors n pads. Total damage $1200. Mine e60 523.

Greetings Aaron,
Compressor can be piston type or rotary engine type. Yours look round hence I asked if it's a rotary compressor.
I remember changing compressor of my old E60 and the original supposed to be a piston type which look tall.

U can get parts from stockies or directly from workshops
