Dear Guys,
Just to share what I did today to my car’s air-con.
I hope this sharing helps save people from unnecessary replace or repairs.
When your air-con is not cold, it does not mean that anything is spoilt or leaking.

What happened?
3 months ago, My air-con was not cold suddenly.
I had sought advice from a few workshop and they suspect there was an air-con gas leak or the cooling coil was not working.
The compressor was most properly working as I have cold air just that it’s not so cold.
What did I do?
I went to a typical workshop to top up the air-con gas and the reasons why I choose to top up gas becos it was the fastest, easiest and cheapest solution and I was able to conclude if my air-con has any air-con gas leaking problem.
The air-con was cold and it lasted for 3 months till today where it was not cold again.
How I solve the problem?
I went to a BMW workshop in woodlands industrial park E5 to seek for help.
The boss uses the air-con recovery machine and diagnosed my air-con.
With the machine, he concluded that there was no leak just that the previous top up of air-con gas was not done properly and had impure air-con gas thus this cause the air-con not able to provide cold air.
He has additional two devices to detect any form of air-con leakage in the cabin and engine bay which helps to assure me that there is really no leakage of air-con gas.
Using the air-con recovery machine, it is able to provide my air-con with very clean and pure air-con gas which is the important factor how air-con is cooled.
Thou the process is simply just to top up gas, the air-con gas however are pure and cleaner than the normal top up of gas which is done cheaply outside.
What is so good about the air-con recovery machine VS the normal cylinder gas top up?
The normal top up simply connects the hoses and pumps in the air-con gas, there is no way to know if you have impure air-con gas inside your car’s air-con system.
The air-con recovery machine is able to suck out all the air-con gas and vent out the impure air-con gas and stores the pure air-con gas in the cylinder as show in the picture.
It then pumps the pure air-con gas back to your air-con thus you have cold air again.
How this saves me $?
Simple, I would have assumed that there is a leakage somewhere in the cooling coils and would have replaced it if not for the air-con recovery machine.
Imagine if I were to go to a typical workshop and say my air-con is not cold again after topping up gas, most likely I would be asked to replace the cooling coils without them even doing any test on my car.
What should you do if you want to ask me for the workshop and contacts?
