hi guys,
i'm deciding if i should get the new e89 sdrive20i ...does anyone know anyone who bought it already?
however, i'm very particular about fuel consumption...read some other discussions in other forums & found that the average for the sdrive23i is around 10km per litre? is this accurate?
seriously hoping the sdrive20i will give around 12km per litre at least (it's 14.7km per litre, on paper)...since it's supposedly more efficient....=\
also...i've read some posts on the roof...does it tend to spoil over time? and how much is the damage?
lastly, the gearbox problems...about weird sounds that some of the guys experienced in Sport/ Drive mode..is this a huge problem?? the incentive for me switching from my current car is cos i'm trying to avoid cars with gearbox problems....

A far cry from the quoted 9.9L/100km. Never put faith in the published figures. I always give allowance of at least 30% error margin - then my heart won't feel so much pain at the hum station.

Yes i am aware that published figures are never accurate thats why I was seeking opinions from actual figures on-the-road...and it seems the current sdrive23i is giving around 10km per litre....(published is 11.7km/ litre if i'm not wrong)

Hi Sable,
Yes mine is S23is
Full tank normal driving can hit 360km, if gun 290 or 300km.
Don't worried too much about the roof, gear and FC. So far so good for all Z4 driver.
Just go ahead and get this beauty and enjoy Sheer Roofless Driving.

hi, ohh...thats about 7km/ litre....in that case really have to rethink....=(
almost bought it yesterday cos v attractive overtrade ...
sigh..... the fuel consumption does bug me greatly...the max i'm comfortable with is 12km/ litre (with the paper rates giving "unrealistic" 14.7km/ litre)...cos the very 1st car i bought gave me like 10km/ litre and really hated driving it...

i average 6.8km per L, haha
FC really sucks
but drive topless down the beach, nothing compare to tt
back ache, legs ache for long journeys
dont care
roof creaks sometimes if u open it up too often ( i use it 3 times a day)
but solved w a little lubricant
no problems w gear box so far
only problem w my wallet n gas pumps every 6 days

Hi sable,
what's your current ride? Usually Conti cars FC wont be that great.....unless Vios or Altis i think...
Good overtrade??? S20i???? don't forget this E89 is heavy too so with a small engine maybe FC will be worst??? cause need more petrol to push the car more???

yup...the only continental marque that gives good fuel consumption...driving a VW now, 50L tank giving me 680 - 700km on Shell 95
yes, the overtrade covers the initial cost i paid for the VW + loan interests + some more extra...(heard they are quite flexible on the overtrade)
the s20i is very slightly lighter, smaller engine + twin turbo....the fuel efficiency said to be 20% better than s23i (at least that's what the US/ UK reviews said, same engine etc), thus on paper it states 14.7km/ litre compared to current s23i on paper giving 11.3km/ litre (but evidently in reality around 7 or 8km/ litre)....
there are no local reviews yet so i'm hesitating...

haha..another forumer suggested taking 30% off published figures...10km/litre still can tahan i guess...any lower, my wallet will be pretty empty quite frequently...i'm not that old (late twenties) so pockets really not deep
yes thats why i'm trying to hold out until local reviews are done...but extremely tempting!
