Singapore Seen | I am victim of cyber attack, says blogger who allegedly threatened smear report unless she gets free hair job
A local blogger has denied that she threatened to damage the reputation of a hair salon in VivoCity, and claims that her email, blog and social media accounts were compromised.
The blogger, Janice Leong, allegedly asked for free services at the salon, in return for publicity on her blog. However, her request for the sponsorship was rejected. This supposedly led to the blogger to submit a counter-proposal, along with her blog traffic statistics.
When she did not receive a reply, she is said to have sent the shop owner another email calling him 'rude' and giving him 24 hours to acknowledge her email or she might 'blog about him and damage the reputation of the hair salon'.
However, the blogger has made a post on her facebook account, stating that her email and social media accounts were hacked into, and that it was the hackers who sent the threatening email to the hair salon.
She has also claimed that she made a police report of the incident, and apologised to the hair salon for any inconvenience caused. She stated that the incident was a cyber attack aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
The representative of the hair salon has responded by saying that he does not know if the blogger's claims are true, and that if a Police report was made then the truth would emerge eventually.
He also stated that he wished to put the incident behind him, and hopes that the blogger is given an opportunity to move on.
