looks like good deal vs 3 series now.

Not forgetting 116/118 is a entry level and a small hatch, can't really compare to 320. Anyway, current 3 series clearing stock, new one cuming early next year. If not shy shy and bargain hard hard for the existing 3 series should be able to get good good deal!!;)

Re: BMW 1 series

Congrats to the both of us! :D yalor, really nice to find a fellow 116er

I got mine with the latest COE too. My SE also say need 10 working days to clear PDI. My expected delivery date is 10 Dec ;) exciting exciting

Was a bit disappointed that the seats are leather/fabric combo.. Will be better if full leather :p

Hi GT8148,

Congrats! I juz got my 116i 2 weeks ago and got the COE in the latest 23 Nov round too...it's a midnight blue baby though :)

Will u be getting your car soon? My PML SE said within 10 working days....sure hope it can be faster and not sure if it's a reasonable time lag??

Anyway, realised that there's not much chatter about the Urban/Sports series...so am glad to have found a fellow owner! :)

Re: BMW 1 series

yup my SE juz called this morning to say that she will register the car this Wed, presumably after readying the car before sending it to the authorities for registration. so she said delivery anytime after Wednesday. maybe u can check with ur SE to see if can deliver earlier?

btw, r u intending to install GPS on ur idrive? my SE said that Singapore 116i units are basic, so no gps. I asked whether possible to install, but she mentioned that it has to be done in the factory in Germany. if wanna do in Singapore, need to go to non-PML workshops, she say possible. issue is I am worried abt warranty issues down the road if "zeng" from outside. yet again, having another gps will make the dashboard look so cluttered - idrive, erp IU, gps!!!

any idea how to install gps, where n how much? solli ah me first time car owner...blur kok haha :)

I guess warranty is a concern. I wonder if my SE can offer any advise... Let u know if I gather anything useful :) btw, currently I am using a Garmin, keeps falling off the windscreen. Very irritating... Will be nice if can integrate the gps into the idrive

Mine also say will register on wed :) let's hope can deliver earlier ;)

Mine is black. Wanted to go for the red color initially, but my wife say it looks like a cab! Anw, told by my SE that the red is exclusive to 118... So got my 2nd choice black.. Now my wife is complaining that it is not full leather..

Btw, I was telling Adrian that u can actually install the gps software into the idrive. Only 1 company doing it at the moment. Went to find the boss for quotation, but price is sky high.. Unless I kenna 4d or toto, else I dun think will be getting it..

It's always interesting for me to hear the BS those sales people spout. Really low-class salesmanship.

Your salesman is full of BS. Crimson Red can be had for both 116i and 118i, no such thing as "exclusive". The nice thing about buying a BMW is that you can customise it to your liking at the factory.

It's not like buying a Toyota where everything is standard configuration.

Your salesman is just trying to sell you ex-stocks so that he gets his commission faster.

Hi Family!

Oh gosh, its that true??!!! No wonder I ask him about the customise of the leather/fabric, he told me 116i is limited to only 3(if i remembered correctly). I asked abt the cost of changing to full leather, but what he told me is the assembly is done in Germany, and to change anything, gotta wait for 3-4 mths. But the catalog they provided is so misleading, as there is SO MANY things not available in SG. And i wonder how true is that...:furious:

Re: BMW 1 series

whatever that they have in stock is whatever is available in various permutations so ya ur SE is right.

agree that the catalogue is misleading though!

however, I must say the ur SE probably meant that there is no stock for red crimson 116i. although you could technically order from
Germany thru PML, if they don't have current stocks.

My SE told me the price in SG very competitive liao. Thats y alot of functions listed in the catalogue not available. Well, in that aspect, i can believe him. Anyway, u still interested in the installation of GPS into ur idrive? Wanna group more ppl to go for a group buy, and see if any discount....:D

Re: BMW 1 series

I juz bought a garmin 1300 in advance yesterday...heard that the gps for idrive is quite erratic :( n updating costs a bomb...n actually, they really should throw in gps...if garmin can sell at a few hundred bucks, BMW should include it as a feature! else the monitor will juz stay as a fm receiver...n parking sensors haha :)

Re: BMW 1 series

If u guys to visit BMW factory, it is very impressive how much customization for high volume vehicle.

The sales people will always sell you ex-stocks so that they can log your sale in their quota and get commission ASAP.

The brochure is not misleading, it only serves to remind that BMWs sold here are really basic. Many things that make your BMW a BMW are not standard. Even a 740i does not come with Adaptive Drive, which to me is a joke.

You can get anything you want in the brochure. Your salesman have a list of all the options and the prices. You pick and choose and BMW will customise your car at the factory. You can even have custom paint colour.

From my experience, many things are actually cheaper when installed at the factory, like M-Sport Package (kit, trims and wheels etc). And many things cannot be retrofitted, e.g. Adaptive Lights.

Personally, I feel it's more satisfying because you buy your car exactly to your specs instead of it being plain vanilla. Not much BMW-ness there.

They will always tell you 3-4 months to scare you off. Depending on current production month cut-off, it's possible to get your car within 6 weeks.

All the best.

Re: BMW 1 series

For Singapore market, most of us will likley get stock brought in by BMW/PML,
which they offer "discounts" and various goodies to move the cars....

Customization usually will need to wait and also lesser discount, but of course the ride
will then be "uniquely" fitted to the required specs. ;)
