Need to receive enough replacement parts before starting calling in cars, as a sure way to ensure the issue is resolved is to replace the part concerned.
For so many years no problem reported worldwide (many billions of km clocked), don't think the issue is that serious. Think it's just precautionary measure that a reputable brand would do to preserve their reputation. Don't think we need to worry about getting our cars checked immediately. Actually one could DIY to check, if PML or MA publishes the instructions.
Some other makes don't even cover their battery terminals. Surely the risk of short circuit is much higher with exposed terminals.
