check if you have any oil stains on your engine block as what i had in the pic below. apparently it's very common for leaks to occur on the engine rocker cover gasket and/or vacumn pump for our N46 engines. for my case, the rocker cover gasket was replace once for valvetronic motor replacement but leak occurred again. vacuum pump was then replaced and this seem to have solved the problem.

Re: Brake Vacuum Pump repair for E90

Just replaced mine. Vacuum pump generates vacuum for more systems than just the brake booster. I guess it may be possible to just replace the oil seal (?), that would be cheaper, but local ws may not be willing and recommend replacing the whole pump, still not that exp.

A reliable workshop should advise the correctly. If the vacuum pump is working well, why replace it? Mine only replaced seals as the pump was working well.

Bro can you pm me the workshop ? I think i might have some problem with the pump and and the seal could be the culprit instead of replacing the whole vacuum pump

Hmm... how do you know it's the vacuum pump? The telltale signs of a leak will be a small fifty cent coin pool of oil collected all the way at the back of the drip tray (just above the exhaust manifold).

Nonetheless, get it checked out properly by an expert. Self diagnosis usually leads to more issues. You can find any of our site sponsor workshops. I did mine at R2D.

I think if you tell XMMs that they would be very impressed also ......

Re: Brake Vacuum Pump repair for E90

I still think compare apple to apple. Go pml check. Confirm Munich far far away from pml for our 3 series ...

If outside workshop then compare a couple of workshops to decide.

I just run thru all my receipts I notice how stupid I was earlier on just believing what Munich says.

Even their express service is still more expensive to pml servicing plus checks.

Re: Brake Vacuum Pump repair for E90

I think hardened brake pedal before engine start is an early sign for pump so pls fix immediately else may lead to booster damage which much more costlier. I learn it the expensive way.
