Car was scratched today....

Re: Car was scratched today....

Personally I don't know whether the blinking light is really a gd solution ... It might provoke the guy or he take it as a challenge to scratch the car again. And when he knows that there might be a cam in the car, he will take an evasive approach...

If really want to catch the person, will have to buy a DVR , 4 ccd cams and an external battery that can last through out the night...

Still thinking whether to buy or not...

Re: Car was scratched today....

This sort of act is not considered vandalism under the law. Even if the police takes actions, the charge will be acts of mischief, which will not carry the mandatory caning sentence.

I am a firm believer in vigilante justice. I believe in the right in protecting my property and my assets. If vandals damage my car, I believe I have the right to protect it, where the law fails.

With increasing youth violence, I think the police have more important problems than scratched cars..

Last time my car kena scratch I also lan lan.. what to do right? Then later someone decided to put very big dents on my roof.

Just today I spoke with a bro whose entire door kena scratch.. also lan lan, just bring shop spend $$$ and time to repair lor. If you can catch, then sue the guy to pay for your repair. But I think not worth the time or effort.

Re: Car was scratched today....

I went to Ikea Alexandra. 2 hrs later came back to my car. It has 6 inch long scratch on my car bonnet. Saw that there was a camera near where I park.

Request the security officer if I could see their camera recording if it capture the culprit who scratch my car. His supervisor say that I must make a police report before I can watch the camera recording. Is this correct ?

Anyway. When to police post. The police officer say must take photo of the scratch and report as mischief. So much problem and hassle.

End up bo pian. Buy touch up paint and try to hide the scratch. Still can see because deep scratch. Shit...

Fcuk!! My E46 got scratched this morning!
Mine is a black car, which makes the scratch all the more obvious
I am parked on the way to the bus-stop and I suspect that is how the prankster scratch on their way there..
It is on the entire passenger side , at a height where you could just hold a sharp object , walk pass and scratch with minimal chance of being detected...

I am gonna hold on to this E46... Old enough not to feel heart-pain... and yet still fun enough to drive...
Shit.. i need to scratch that shiny black A4 to feel more balanced...

No, they just want to discourage you from troubling them to review the tapes. I've reviewed security footage without police report twice before, or if confidentiality is an issue, they can review the footage without you present.

Oh NO, me staying in CCK as well and driving a black car.

Seriously, there is nothing much that we can do ... just LL.... spend $$$ and move on. The infamous case of the victim with video recording of the guy scratching his car when he was involved in a minor accident with. At the end, there is nothing the victim can do, there was no police case. He took the compenstration and close the case.

These people are sick and they are just jealous .......

Ya Lor. I just need them to see or tell me if the culprit who scratch my car leave in another car. Give me the car licence plate no and I can try to track him down.

Even the police officer tell me no need to make police report to view CCTV. But those lazy security "goons" could not be bother.

bro,

I feel for you, its a very TL issue.
makes us heart pain, waste time, waste money.

anyway, just wanna share my 2 cents, that even if u can record the f**ker scratching your car, its a civil case and there is nothing really much the police can do.

so in that light, no need to get the most expensive, just get something installed as a form of deterrant.

good luck and take care bro.

+1. i remember that epic thread, it was like 60 pages long!

Vandalism is a serious offence and the perpetrator if convicted can be fined, jailed and caned not less than 3 strokes and not more than 8 strokes based on Vandalism Act. This was what happened to Michael Fay.

Vandalism applies only if the act is committed to a govt or state property. machiam, burnt a rubbish bin.

scratch car, classified as mischief. civil suit. log police rept, go sub-court, log magistrate complaint, he forward to police for further action. at the end, may be just u sue him directly. waste time, long process.

michael fay's case dif. too many cases, series in fact. so, police go for harsher charge of vandalism, AG chamber concur, jalan.
