japan sign a treaty to give up diaoyu island conditionally or unconditionally
alto japan got usa back up, don't think usa want to fight head-to-head with china
besides, china also got europe 'friend' ie: germany, france, rusia whom are not in good terms with usa

NK would not fight, they flex lots of muscles to secure young Kim position, internal publicity, tell the world they are still aggressive. Lastly, they will only join the fight if Japs fight head-on with Chinese and Japs losing without US backing.

I am in Guangzhou now, first day arrival got huge demo, taxi driver complained traffic jam for 5 hours. CCTV all channels talked about Diao Yu island and the Chinese rights to claims the island historically and Taiwanese fisherman fishing for centuries there. US Sec of Defence also in China, plus 18 Sep Chinese National Shame Commemorative Day, sentiments riding here, Chinese seems ready all out to fight. Many Jap restaurants here hanged Chinese flag, while many Japs car in China kenna smashed up. Tons of intereviews everyday and the Taiwanese willing to fight along with Chinese against the Japs. Some Jap semi-con or electronic factory in China stop work. Factories in Shanghai is still functioning but other cities like Panasonic and other has stop work for few days already.

The Japs also start to claim some South Korean islands, their foreign ministry has expressed their stand for their islands too.

What wrong with the Japs?

I think the biggest shit stirrers are some parts of the Western world.

First, the video clip mocking the prophet Mohammed is fanning the hatred against the Americans on a global scale. Google refused to remove the clip from youtube....

Guys, don't day-dream. A war will not break out between Japan and China. Here's why.

1.) The change in communist leadership is set to take place in Nov. A war will destabilize a leadership transition. This is the last thing China would want.

2.) China economy is slowing down rapidly. Boosting it has more priority than island issues. Going to war will destroy China's economic progress. Communist party will not be able to hand over the country economy in decent shape. Lose-lose situation.

3.) The recent spats of unrest in China is caused by PRCs themselves. Note that the communist party members did not even utter a word of annoyance or strong contempt at Japs action. They are lying low and staying put partly because it wants to stir nationalism and patriotism among its people forth to the communist party changeover. What's better propaganda than uniting PRCs through some island issues? I think Jap has just fallen into China's trap but creating this opportunity and advantage for the communist party.

4.) The markets had not priced in a war at all. FX markets are nonchalent of an imminent war. All talk about QE3, ECB stimulus, boosting china liquidity and curbing china property prices but none of the factors is about war. CNY and JPY are still as per normal. No spikes in crude oil prices. No investor is worried.

5.) The chinese frigates and aircraft carrier are yet to appear. Only surveillence ships around the islands. This says alot about their level of aggression. They are NOT willing to go to war. Just dragging time and hope to bury this issue for another 10 years.

So boh tai chi one.. All of you are overly worried, concerned and pessimistic.

the problem with the japanese is that they are in a state of denial of the atrocities they committed when they started a war of aggression against china.in western history books , china's war with the japs started in 1937.in china's history book, the war started in 1931 with japan's conquer of manchuria.

so china fought japan from 1931 to 1945.the japanese history books whitewashed all the atrocites they committed in china.
99% of japanese believe the massacre of nanking did not happen or only 30,000 died.

Refer International Court of Justice, hire big guns Queens Counsels, agree to act like gentlemen regardless of the outcome.

The outcome would be a compromise one....If I have my way..all this territorial dispute/claim should end up noone win...leave the damm island alone and let it be a sanctuary for the wild..damm can we for once share the planet with other living things???

ahem, this is an unfair statement. The ICJ is made up of 15 judges of diverse backgrounds and nationalities, among them from Slovenia, Brazil, Russia and one of them is from China...Mdm Xue Hanqin
