Govt very smart.

in those days when COE cost a lot, PARF is quite high also - about twice. So annual depreciation is still quite ok. Nowadays PARF formula is much lower, Together with the expensive COE, yearly depreciation is going to be a lot higher.

Then if the owner wants to keep the car after 10 years. he needs to find at least another $50K cash to renew COE. Don't think bank will lend money to buy COE from LTA.

owners these days rarely keep the cars past 5 yrs. in this instance the high coe shld not affect

my SE told very hard to sell cars nowadays.
COE snapped up but few actual sales. and no additional commission at all even after price hike.

since much lesser cars can be released onto the road each month, their are going to make less.

Price hike is to factor in increased COE cost. If the trend continues and starts to eat into margins, even commissions may go down :errr:. Less cars to sell = less sales = less commission.
