Coil or Stock

Re: Coil or Stock

Bilstein has many versions. Base model B6 and B8, mainly comfort.
B8 would be better.

For track and torquish feeling, you probably looking at least at B12 or B14.

For more information, you can find it here:
BILSTEIN COM

I am using B8, so far, my opinion, better than stock.
Just a tad harder but depends on the springs too.
I am using Vogland.

Re: Coil or Stock

Currently I am also facing the problem when going over humps with 4 people in the car and a full trunk, my rear wheels are scraping my fenders.

Can I just get stiffer springs? Or must I get aftermarket coil overs complete with springs?

Re: Coil or Stock

Roll fenders cheaper .....

Re: Coil or Stock

Its your damper, also known as shock absorber that is spolit.
If your on stock springs, change to brand:Sachs for oem feel. Blistein B6 for stiffer, better roading feel.
If on lowered springs, choose between Blistein B8 or brand: Konis dampers.
Coilover wise theres alot to choose. Ppl here like KWs.

Im personally on H&R springs and Blistein B8. Feels good to me.

Agree with van, your shocks are shot. If your ride is a daily drive and your budget is not far from stock, might want to consider Bilsteins.

Re: Coil or Stock

I recently replaced my shocks...with SACH Grand Touring.
I felt is it slight harder than stocks.
Yes, for even harder ride, Bilstein for slight more (10-20%)

According to the workshop, BOGE and SACH is difference.
Most stocklist either suggest BOGE or SACH. The orginal BMW shock (even if made by SACH) is not so popular due to price.

Just some inputs

Re: Coil or Stock

My feedback - both original and BOGE shocks don't last. Wore both sets out within 57k kms combined.

Now on Bilsteins, will monitor the durability and post FR in 5years......

No. I drove like normal but the roads in SG can be challenging. Cracked a set of original rims before. Not easy.
