Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

funny that there are allegations against ST.

we should read the article on the paper 1st before commence judgement.

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

Well, I have read the paper.

From the looks of it, the only reason why seemingly trivial things like this appear on the Straits Times is someone who know the reporters have contacted them and managed to get this published in the paper. Rich man bully the handicapped by parking in their lot and ignoring parking summons because he can afford to pay or write letter to his MP to ask for waiver - ideal good vs evil type of storyline.

Regardless on whether he has been picked on or not, unless the driver is a handicapped person himself or is driving family members who are handicapped, he has no business parking in that lot whatsoever. People in this forum got some funny BMW-always-got-victimised complex - the way I see it he just happened to be driving one.

Nah, it seems you are prejudging ST.. The paper accounted the contact and he refused to give comment.... It is in today Sunday times..

Well the newspaper tried contacting him only by indirect means, rather than making an effort to be there at the time of the offence. They'd have been able to see if there were adequate spaces and potentially turn this story around into something constructive.

Predictably, it takes the easy way out and plays the "rich bullies poor" card - that makes the reporting incomplete and biased. Just ask yourself: what exactly is The Straits Times trying to achieve here? A public lynching? It seems people are hunting him down already.

Anyway I don't know the driver and I don't really care la.

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

doing something wrong (parking at disabled lot) , by the game rules as what we call law, to address what seems wrong, right is not the way most of the time..

In short, it's a simple case gone wryly wrong..juz happens to be a person, who changed to a bm, handled his problem badly..hence no matter how true is the whole story, it had certainly given leeway for any propaganda...

erp for carkpark?

not sure if wheel clamp helps for this case even though he is rich enough to pay the fines but he might not have the time to wait for the clamp to be opened only after the fine has been cleared or paid....................

cheers

1 time, 2 time....say emergency still understandable but 6-7 times? sorry lor, i no pity for the driver then unless the driver can prove that there was no such thing as the 6-7 times reported

maybe he should park at the pavement (fine should be cheaper??)

* i think if the lift is big enough, he sure to be parking it inside the lift........
cheers

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

its not abt the fine....but more of denying any handicapped user the use of this lot set aside for them.
if the lot is for any tom, dick or harry, might as well dun waste time n money painting special signs for the handicapped then.
in chinese, we call them being 自动 or in english, simply self-awareness

same like on mrt, all the concussed youngsters or deeply engrossed individuals listening to music on their iphones pretending not to see old ppl or pregnant women.

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

Does impotent considered a form of handicapped? Maybe he thought so...

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

Lemme play the devil's advocate here.

He commited a crime, law has been called in and enforced. What's next?

Poke his family on internet? Black-label his number plate and company? Reveal his family photos on the internet? Assassinate his character? Crucify him?

One day if I am caught speeding, and the whole world do this to me..... reveal my/my family's photos, my FB page, show my car/license plate number, black-labelling my company, call me names........ I will not be sure how I will respond.

Perhaps I will try to be a Saint and live like one to be able to criticise others.

After all, we are all spotless.

Are we?

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

he could choose to sue ST for defamation if all these are causing him grief.
if it is true that the MP has been involved and HDB authority has been on the look out for him and he is not even repentant at all or come out in the open to state his case now that he is under public scrutiny, then i would say he deserves it.

is ST making a mountain out of mole hill? may be, may be not. netizen thrives on these sh1t for what it is worth..

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

Firstly, posting someone's name publicly here isn't a nice things. I believe the mods should do something about it. Whether if you guys eventually get to both sides of the story, does that give us any right to judge? Then again Singaporeans love the Stompers' mindset, it's still your choice.

Then it brings us back to the legality issue. If his car is not meant to be there, be it a BMW or not, it's up to the authorities to catch him. You can of course call the authorities and watch them come issue these cars tickets.

Parking in handicapped lots is just pure wrong. Someone once told people wouldn't truly understand the inconvenience of parking in a handicapped lot unless you're a handicapped driver or you have family members who are.

We all love a bit of fun but I hope my friends here can still be a little more sensitive when they're joking about handicapped people. I've come in contact with many of them and I don't think it's particularly funny to joke on what someone else is lacking which you have obviously taken for granted.

Having said all that, cut this guy some slack. In line with Kenn's post, we're not saints and we shouldn't pretend to be.

Again, for discussion sake....

We might know that he is unrepentent, but like I have said, offence committed, law enforced. Let the law deal with him.

Much like most, if not all of us - on and off we will breach the speed limits (local or on NSHW) and other traffic laws.... Travelling 100 or 110 is so common on a 90 road. But because everyone does that, we seemed to keep quiet about the nature of offence. Friends who breached NSHW speed limit often brushed it off with "fines" ("we get to pay to speed on NSHW"), but on local roads, they condemn other cars for breaching the speed limits.

Also, many subjects of internet scrutiny cannot be bothered with such exposures,

I am not condoning the act of parking in a handicap lot. It is, clear-cut, wrong. Legally and ethically.

But I also don't wanna condemn and comment on a case acted upon by the law. If he is not served justice, that's a different story. Then again, very often, we were not caught. Does not mean we are Saints.

I am just perplexed by the responses from the other side. Went all the way to dig his private life? That's over the board.

Facebook now like a street directory when things go well or wrong.
We should just browse & not comment if we dunno both side of story.

Agree. Digging his personal life to shame him? Find out who his wife is and harass her? Get a life!

Re: Congrats to BMW owner Mr YewCheeHeng! U made it to ST headline!

You think Mr Yew is bad, then please look at this douchebag who took up not one but two, and close to three handicapped lots at one go. And what a shame, he also drives a BMW...
