With COE prices going down, I'm planning to renew my 2011 535i before expiry around June. Realised that many of F10 bros at my workplace also got similar plan.

With that said, lets share and collect ideas to make our >8 year old F10 feel like new car.

Performance:
1. Done a full walnut blast of the engine. Can now feel smooth
2.
Cosmetic:
1. Considering respray to newer BMW colours (new 8 series colour options seems to suit f10 shape well)
2.

M TECH bumpers
BM3 stage 1 tune easy to DiY under sgd700 (I'VE done this)
Intercooler and downpipe
BM3 stage 2 ! Tune USD50 more
Rewrap steering wheel and head liner to alcantara leather
Get a 3M full car wrap cheap instead of a respray.
Try your hand at coding your car

Steelmate TPMS (I'VE done this)

Ask a mobile car polisher to do paint correction then try your hand at ceramic coating (I'VE done this)

Buy every single fluid (brake, coolant, transmission) filter and pads and rotors, engine and transmission mounts bushings, and have your fav workshop refresh it all !
Have your aircon system refreshed with new drier canister and new coolant put in !
Change all leaking hoses and gaskets

COE drop to $5 ill use for another 10 years hahaha

unfortunately, mine is not due for renewal for another few years. but if PQP falls below $10K, maybe worthwhile to renew. when coe goes up later, probably can still sell at a profit.

Thanks bro. Am considering the M tech bumpers as you recommended. My car already tuned.
Looked into the price of the wrap, but seems like its about 1.8k versus full respray for 3.xxk. Most wrapping workshops say wrap can last easily 4 years or more if take care, but not sure if it can really last that long. Whereas paint job should be able to last without too much problem if we add ceramic coating etc.

And yes, will be replacing all the fluids as well as suspension. Considering between getting an original BMW shocks and springs or change to coilover. Personally, I don't mind if total repairs spent reaches about 10-15k, since already saving massively instead of replacing with new generation 540i (which was original plan last year). This is the first time I'm going to own the same car for more than a decade so I might as well spend what is needed to maintain nicely and keep it fun to drive!!

Coilovers unless you track your car has little use in day to day life. Ask yourself how many time you wanna change ride height n tune rebound dampening on a normal day to day basis ? Rec bilstein with lowering springs again depends if you want the firm ride theres the B12 option which is basically the B8 with lowering springs. H&R are way to harsh imo go lookup my thread it shows where to buy and how much I paid etc etc for suspension.

Gotcha! Will check it out

My car Undercarriage oil leaking, currently in the workshop - replace engine oil pan gasket, seal, bolts, crankshaft output oil seal, replace automatic transmission oil and oil filter. My Mechanic advise that, at the same time, if I were to renew my COE, I should also consider to replace the Automatic transmission oil cooler. At this point, still not sure if I want to eventually renew the COE, in dilemna:cloud9: now?
I think the best is you send your car for a full inspection at reputable BMW specialist and see what he says. If the total repair costs are only a few K to get ur car in good mechanical condition then worth to renew, especially since u using as second car only bro. If mechanic say repair cost is a lot, like maybe 15 or 20k plus then I think no point because might as well bite bullet at get new car.
Personally for me I see it as, if I were to buy a new 6 cylinder Bmw 5 series will cost me around 340k for the 540i. Instead of the huge new car price, I don’t mind spending some K to do up my car until top top condition because already saving huge by not buying new car anyway.

Hey, Thanks much for your helpful advise. Today I collected my car, work scope done (see attached). Although there’s no fault, but I proceed to replace the automatic transmission oil and oil filter hopefully to cushion the GB life span. However, I did not replace the auto transmission transmission oil cooler as proposed by the Mechanic, because I feel if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Nevertheless, my Mechanic says except there’s minor oil leakage on the front right absorber, my car so far still in good condition, of course, wear and tear cannot be avoided. Meanwhile, in case of COE renewal, my Mechanic recommended me a laundry list of things to do (see attached).
Haha bro I see ur list I a bit scared now. Was planning to go for a renewal inspection after circuit breaker period to see if worth renewing but if got so many repairs then idk what to do. My mechanic had already told me that my full suspension must replace in case I want to renew.
May I ask what is the estimated damage for all the repairs bro?

So, what have you done, and how much you spent to revamp your car? Please share. Thank you!
So far cuz of CB period I haven’t really touched the car much. But I plan to add all the poison after get the green light from mechanic that I should renew. Also am considering to visit 2 or 3 mechanic to get a more objective opinion instead of relying on just 1

About 13 to 15k. But I think should be worth considering if that can bring the car up to mint condition, for mine, the depreciation after COE renewal should be about $7k based on current PQP (include cost of replacement per the list).

I see bro looks like a p good deal. I feel like pqp may even get a little bit lower than that over next few months. It’s anybody’s guess

it all comes down to how much depreciation youre willing to take. Buy a new car have little maintainance over 10 years but dep is 19k to 25k upwards for a newer 5 series brand new. At 7k dep if you really like the car every year you can afford to spend 10k in repairs and still be paying less overall. Engine and gearbox is pretty solid in the F10 vs the E60 so thats why i'd keep mine and prob invest the rest in something that makes me $

Have not renewed as of yet car is just over 5 years old now. You can read my thread of everything thats been done so far. The rest has just been normal servicing
