Hi guys, just to share a relatively simple DIY to change from stock (leather) parking brake lever to any others, which in my case, i changed to the aluminium-leather one.
Time taken : 15 minutes
BMW Part No. : 34 40 0 404 523
Tools needed:

1. Cable tie: 200mm x 5mm, black will be better.
2. Plastic cutter: available fm most DIY shops
3. Sharp pen-knife or scissors (if you do not have plastic cutter, but use with more care)
Removing:

Open the arm-rest for easy access to the parking brake leather boot.
Disengage leather boot from centre console. This is a whole module with the leather almost 'fused' to the mount.

Remove brake lever by pulling it with slight strength. It's not necessary to over-exert strength.
Installation:

Install new (aluminium-leather) brake lever, and push in till it engages with a slight 'click'.
