Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I for one....regret getting it from PML. Collected car one week ago....

1) IU unit not working and PML ask to going to LTA for rectification work.

2) Alpine hi-fi upgrade.....need to leave the car in PML for 2 days to install the stereo set.

Bad impression on PML. My next ride ......no more 3 letters car for me.....will go for 4 letters car instead ......AUDI.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

yeah, their response time and deliverability is absurd for a brand name like theirs!

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

i like the 3 letters BMW but dislike the 3 letters PML

True, PML need to improve their after sales service .

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Just unlucky mate...i never had any issues from day #1. The car's been running like a gem

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

My major concern if I buy from PML in the future is:

the fact that they take a few days to resolve seemingly simple problems, when outside workshop usually take 1 day, for example.
=> wouldn't it create lots of problems for me, especially when I'm someone who needs to fetch kid everyday?

Plus the fact that they may sometimes wrongly diagnose the problems. What will result is that I may have to go back to them many times, to finally get the problem resolve.

The above thought scares me. Maybe I am paranoid.

Is Audi less problematic? (I don't have much knowledge about it...)

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I never did had any problems with my car from PML and my bro didn't get any problems from Audi too.

Luck of the draw, I guess! :)

PS: I sent my bimmer (2yr old plus) in for a couple of minor warranty claims but I have been given good service from my CSA. Audi's a bit new, about 4mths old and there haven't been any gremlins.

Maybe at the end of the day, it boils down to luck yah.

(Your brother's car very swee! But Rodney say you more handsome
Ok, sorry for OT.)

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I don't have problems with BMW, but I do have problems with PML. With my last ride (Z3), I had received a call from a survey company regarding PML's service. I told them I would never buy a BMW ever again because of PML......guess what? I'm too much of a bimmer fan and ended up buying another BMW. However, this time, I'll service under warranty at PML and once warranty is over, PML will not see me again (until my next new bimmer).

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

so far ok with pml, changed a few BIG warranty items from them, no issue.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

is this thread gonna get shut down coz we are making negative remarks about a distributorship?

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I also do not have any problems with PML and the services are acceptable, in fact better than average, to me. You should try the services of the other distributorships to make that comparison.

Do you think you will get better services, say from a PI? I agree what some bros said. Depends on your luck and after all, it is a people to people service.

CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!

Hate it when they always quote "programming needed" so need more than 1 miserable day! And their Senior CSA is a cold robot!

eh robot, you switched jobs recently?

and our robot is not cold. on the contrary, he's quite warm, especially to pretty ladies. and he's GOLD.

before i digress any further... we've got a choice now that more PI are selling bimmers too. furthermore, you'd be able to spec your car according to your wishes, unlike the stealership, where they provide the bells and whistles as standard items that screw up.

most people go to the stealership for convenience (i.e. peace of mind, value-added services, etc.) but is PML providing convenience in the first place? if they really bothered, this forum would have been the best place for them to check for satisfaction.

and it would seem that i know more about bimmers than some of their sales people (call them SEs, SAs, whatever...) asked one of them some questions, and he tried to smoke me out with utter rubbish...

so remind me why people would go to PML if they had a better choice...

indeed... with PI u get a wider variety for customizing your car based on ur needs. not to mention you do not have to pay a premium for the supposed peace of mind service that PML claims to provide.

maybe i'm missing out on something here, but why would anyone still want purchase their ride from PML? i ask this not rhetorically, but seeing how i intend to stick with the BMW brand name for a good long time, i'm really interested to know if there's any reason at all for one to do their business with PML.

for point 1, are u pissed that PML don't rectify it for you? but if it's the IU, that is LTA equipment and tagged to your car. I think LTA or Vicom has to fix this. Don't see how PML can help you. Maybe the last batch of IU are faulty. My friend also having problems with the IU in a one week old car, so going to vicom to get it checked.

point 2) PML tends to take a while to fix stuff. You should have asked them to install it and you take delivery after its done. then again, so many cars are getting this free upgrade right? maybe they are short on manpower.

In general, external workshops tend to finish jobs faster than PML. But my regular ext workshop is starting to get busy with a growing customer base... sometimes they can't service my car as quickly as before either. Gotta book a week in advance too... thats what happens when business gets good i guess.

I don't really regret buying from PML, cos at least they settle big ticket refunds/replacements when I ask them too. Sometimes, you try getting a refund/replacement for a faulty part from a small workshop, and all these stupid excuses come out. So Authorised dealers have their plus points now and then.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Yeah I do agree that alot of sales executives have no idea what they are blabbering about, they're just in cashing on the commission! Technical questions seems to stumble them alot.

i'm curious.... is it v impt to most that the SE is very technically knowledgeable? granted, sales ppl should knw what they are selling. But lets say you have a choice between a technically savvy but not so price friendly SE and a less tech savvy SE who tries v hard to get good trade in/ outright disc, which would you pick? for me, since i know enough abt the cars i'm buying, i just want an honest SE who will get me a good deal and not try to pocket extra $ here and there. As long as they can get me answers to my questions like manufacturing month etc, i can figure the rest out myself. Also impt to me is also their advice on the car market eg: what the resale characteristics each of the model variants have.

But agreed, it'd be annoying when SEs & SAs try to smoke you with rubbish. I'd appreciate it much more if the person just admitted they need to check on a question rather than BS their way thru. I haven;t gotten BS'd by my SE so far, but I've had SAs that tell me rubbish. But i notice they get on their toes once they realize you are not a tech goondu and can call them out on the crap.
