Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

that's def a plus point for PML... the free tow svc as long as within 10 yrs of purchase. Tho you have to contend with (probably) higher repair charges.

about 5 years back, I once called up J4C when my car's fuel pump broke. Amos was still at the shop daily then, and he was v helpful. Even offering to arrange for tow truck to pick up my car from PML (cos it had been towed there already) and do the repairs w him. Understandably, he said he would charge for the tow svc. I didn't do the repair with them cos of the hassle outweighing the cost savings, but he left a good impression on me.

Last year, a friend's family car was past warranty so i recommended an ext workshop to them and they started patronizing them. Then one day when i was at their home, his mom drove home and suddenly water started pooling below the car. Called up the ext workshop and they seemed to know what part had gave way. Actually, they had detected a crack during a recent inspection but deemed it safe to leave it's replacement for later. damn suay, but maybe they thought can save the owner some money.

so anyway, they gave a tow truck contact, but the tow guy didn't want to bring a flatbed without extra charge. Since the workshop was in those multi story carpark sort of buildings, the parents tried to contact the workshop manager again for advice. Manager didn't answer, nor did he respond to handphone voicemail left. Mind you, this was sat afternoon, and the workshop was already aware the owners needed help. Other workshops would have been closed by this time, resulting in the car being stranded till Monday. Finally, they called PML since the ext workshop totally never bother to call back.

PML sent a service mobile to chk the car, and they topped up water so that the tow truck could drive it safely into position for the flatbed. On Monday, CSA called to say they'd try to fix it within the day, and they did.

From then on I made a mental note to just call PML when experiencing such breakdowns. That is hardly the time you wanna get stranded by your mechanic. To me, the hasslefree experience in that situ is worth the premium.

I followed the tow back to Singapore and before i arrived back home PML has delivered a hamper to my place. The CSO and my sales follow up with calls and letter after i received the car back to check how's the car doing.

Although i was very upset with the breakdown, i was delighted with the response and follow up of PML.

wah, they gave you a hamper? that's a pretty nice touch. They prob realized the breakdown ruined your road trip and wanted the make amends. Doesn't really make up for a ruined trip, but it's a nice gesture.

But, when my car breakdown, PML never give me hamper :|

uh oh, after this story, now whenever a car gets towed in, PML is going to get demands for hampers..... :shakehea: I can just picture it now:

"...do you know how much my car cost!? How come 320 owner got hamper and I don't have? I want to talk to your MANAGER!" :woottt:

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

I normally get very good but expensive service when I bring my e64 in for servicing. The service is always good, that is if I can tolerate the wait before my SM returns my call for assistance. LOL. It make take weeks, lately it took a month but the service is usually worth the wait, not sure about the money though.

I'll usually camp outside PML to make sure those farkers don't take my car out for a joy ride. Bloody hell, they are always so damn happy when I bring my car in. Almost like kids in a candy store. And it's only a bloody 650i. Imagine those tuned Ms.....yummmmm.....MAKAN TIME!

Hi Avatar,

I also had the same problem with the 'electric steering lock' about 5 weeks back. Managed to drive to PML Alexander and the CSA that handled the car was really responsive. (Guess it helps if the CSA is your neighbour)

My wife was doing most of the driving and was pregnant and he managed to get me a courtesy car within a day. I was quite impressed by that gesture.

Yep...so far I have had pretty good experience in PML, both my SE and SA.

One of my cupholder was stuck and they replaced both as the new cupholders have a silver stripe on them. Could be because I have a solid SA....but he could have just changed one and not two.

He replaced my door clips even though he knew that my door panel is modified with my audio system.

Just Sunday night, my car broke down in a basement carpark due to "faulty electric steering lock". The mobile technician was called in and my car was towed back to PML for repairs. they replaced the faulty steering column and my car is good as new...ha ha ...for now.

All without cost...even offered to pay for my taxi ride back home and upon collection of car.

Of course...I have had very good services from our site sponsors too :)

Sometimes back, I ever seen two mechanics with uniform ( not BMW ) buy 4D with the customer's luxury car parked at the road side.

maybe they all fight over who gets to take your car out for the test spin after svcing. From your list of mods, no wonder!

I can't comment abt PML.., but years and years and years ago, when i was an auditor auditing C&C, a svc tech took me out for a spin in a Merc sports car (i can't remember which model now). He was acelerating like up to 120kmh on Alexandra Rd. Of cos he told me was just testing the car after servicing it ....making sure everything was OK. :shakemyb:

I think we cannot stop technicians taking our cars out for a spin since they have to test drive to determine if a problem is fixed. It should be fine as long as there are no unwarranted damages, which of course, they will have to make good.

It should also be perfectly fine if they decide to stop and buy food or 4D during the test drive. I don't see anything wrong with that.

What if they buy durians? heh heh...

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Wow! You are so kind! Personally, I feel it is personally WRONG to do so (FULL STOP!)

Best of all, if they do so, kena summon from traffic police, I will certainly bring the matter to the media! As a test drive means NO STOPPING for non-sense!

So how are you going to prevent them from doing so? We have to be realistic.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Aiyah! Be creative, lah! There are such things as GPS tracking.

I have more than 5 Garmin GPS models ranging from specialised hiking ones to trackings for anything even to car joy rides... Just place one my tracking ones turn it on, and when someone drive out of the building, it will track date, time, speed, location; how long they stop, which location: Brickworks, Bt Merah, Red hill or even drive to Jurong ... and stop where.. also can ....lah

Do you know that this is how sites like malsingmaps, get users to help to track new locations. I then confront the AD! This is one simple way.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

drive out to test = perfectly right
drive out to spin and impress mei mei on the road = absolutely wrong
the intention speak for itself
i know we can't stop it but if we find out and have "reasonable" evidence to prove it, i will definitely pursue.
for my case, if i send in for a normal servicing of changing oil and did not report any problem and if my mileage increase > 5KM, i will question already.

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Clap, clap, clap! Your reply makes sense... Earlier... by peng....I don't agree!

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

i think it is ok to test drive the car after servicing.. but it is not ok if the technician take the car to satisfy his G force craving such as red line shift every gear for the fun of it or do a slide at the corner... etc.. on the pretext of testing the gear box; suspension or brakes.. if it was just a regular oil change. Hell. it isn't that the car can't take the beating.. but it is the owner who wants to be the one to do the beatings....

Re: Do you regret buying BMW from PML?

Well, perhaps my threshold is higher than others. Realistically, I won't bother to track and trace or check after sending my car in because as long as it is in their possession, they are answerable. I have better things to do with my time.

Say is one thing, do is another. Have you actually checked on them when your car is in their workshop? I would be impressed if you did and will continue to do so.
